OOC: You won't see Tazer or Balatro or Belladonna or Tyonek or EbonyPatriot in this RP. Why? Because to me, the characters are real, and thus cannot be in two places at once. (I know... I'm weird. But I like being weird. ;D ) Oh yeah, and like caribou, the proper terms are bull=male and cow=female, but I prefer to use stag and hind. So anyway yeah... come and join the fun!
BIC: The regal moose stag struts through the forest, his coat gleaming a reddish color. Even bit of the stag is aristocratic, even the moose 'trunk' of a nose. As anyone who looks into his eyes knows, he doesn't just think he was better than everyone else, he knows he’s better than anyone else. Was he not so aloof, the stag would have be considered obnoxious.
The reddish moose snuffs the air and sighed. He thinks of his young son, of the fawn that his mate was carrying, and his mate... "Oh Dulcis," he mutters. "Fear not. I, Roanoke, shall find you."
Roanoke continues his arrogant stride, unaware that he would soon come upon a strange beast...

Roanoke sighs pitifully. He thinks back to when his first son was born, how Dulcis and he had debated for a name and finally settled on Tuke. Roanoke wonders what his unborn child had been named. He even remembers the name he had suggested for it if it was a male- Rutt.
Roanoke rears suddenly. "WHO ARE YOU?!?" he screams.

"I'm Koda!!" cheers the creature. It is an earth-colored grizzly cub, with the white 'collar' of hair still around his neck. "Who are you?"
"Roanoke," the stag stiffly replies. His reddish ears cock as a tawny adolescant grizzly appears.
"Hey Koda," he says. "I- who's that? One of Rutt and Tuke's relatives?"
Roanoke becomes so excited almost misses hearing Koda say "Hiya Kenai!! This is Roanoke!!"
"Yes pleased to meet you, Kenai," Roanoke interrupts. "Do you know Rutt and Tuke?"
"Yeah," answers Kenai slowly. "But how-?"
"I'll tell you later. Can you take me to them?"
"Yeees. Come on," Kenai orders, confused.

OOC: Mind if I take control of Kenai? ;D BIC: I turn reluctantly to lead the stranger, Roanoke, back to where we saw the two moose last. It must have been at least three miles back; another set back is all I need. Denahi won't be expecting us yet, of course, but by the time we're back on the trail we'll have lost at least two hours of daylight. I hold back a sigh, and do my best to hide my annoyance. You can't always be sure what might set a moose off, and an angry bull moose is the last thing I want right now. OOC: I hope you don't mind the first-person. I'm actually more used to third-person RP, but this seems easier for me.

OOC: Nay, I don't mind who you pick Epesi or how you write it- I'm just glad someone is RPing with me here. ;D
BIC: Roanoke is boiling with excitement as he follows the Bears. "I knew Rutt and Tuke long before you did," he says casually, knwoing he should explain himself to Kenai. "I am their father."

OOC: I sure said the word "back" a lot in that post, huh? BIC: I listen politely to Roanoke as he explains himself. This is Rutt and Tuke's father? Oh. I...wouldn't have guessed. Well, I suppose there is some family resemblance there, now that I think about it. Sort of. "So," I say, with a glance at Koda, as I try awkwardly to make conversation. "Do, uh...do they keep in touch?" Something tells me this is going to be a long walk.

"I left when Tuke was but a fawn and Rutt was still inside his mother's womb. I can't wait to see them- diginified lords of the forest," Roanoke replys proudly.
OOC: Oy Roanoke's in for a big suprise eh? He thinks his sons are like himself. ;D

I fight back a snort of laughter at this, turning it into a small cough. Biting my lip, I glance again at Koda. I hope he knows to keep his mouth shut this time.
How far have we gone by now? I look around for some sort of landmark to recognize this place by, and spot a fallen tree. Not far enough, by the looks of it. I speak up again to pass the time.
"So, where's their mother now?"

At once Roanoke's ears fall back. "I-I don't know. I just recently returned to this part of the world. I-I-I'm not even sure she's still alive."

I look at Roanoke in surprise, as his demeanor seems to change at the mention of the mother. I'm not sure what to say at this, and I have the uncomfortable feeling of sticking my nose where it doesn't belong.
"Oh, I'm...I'm sorry," I say, at a loss for a better response. But that doesn't seem right; he doesn't know if she's dead either. "I mean, maybe they'll know...Rutt and Tuke."
Rutt and Tuke never seem to talk about their mother, but that could mean a lot of things, if anything at all. Looking for a change of subject, I remember what Roanoke said about this "part of the world." Where else could he go?
"Where were you, anyway?" And, before I can think about it, I blurt out, "Why did you leave them?"

OOC: Er I'm not sure if the ice bridge that scientists said connected Alaska to Russia still existed at this point (for the life of me I can't think of what it's called), so what Roanoke says might not be true.
BIC: "I had no choice but to leave them. I had to go overseas using the ice bridge that connects this land to the other set of lands across the ocean. I was trying to escape a Wyvern- a fierce dragon that doesn't normally live here- by the name of Pyronondo. A Thunderbird called Ring-Of-Fire helped more crossed the land to what, according to Ring-Of-Fire, will someday be called England. There I stayed until Ring-Of-Fire decidded it was safe for me to come back here. That is why my voice might sound odd to you," explains Roanoke. "Pyronondo has returned to his master, so not only am I safe, but my family is as well- that is, what's left of it." The Moose said the last the last sentence bitterly.

OOC: The Bering land bridge? I'm no expert myself, but upon consulting my brother (and Wikipedia,) I think it may have been above water at least close enough to the time of Brother Bear for the purposes of this RP. It depends on exactly when Brother Bear takes place, really, but I don't think it's a problem, all things considered. BIC: I try to take in Roanoke's story, having no idea what a wyvern or a thunderbird is, or a dragon for that matter. I'm beginning to feel dubious about his explanation, but for now I say nothing, remembering my first encounter with Roanoke's sons. I wonder what they'll have to say about their father's story. I check our surroundings again, pausing to get my bearings. Are we going the right way? Beginning to worry slightly, I look at my little brother. "Which way do we go here, Koda?"

OOC: Yeah that's it!!! ;D Er, if it wasn't above water, we'll just say it was poetic license eh? BIC: "Uh yeah I think so... yeah!! This is the right way!!" cheers Koda. "You think or you KNOW!?!" sneers Roanoke, ears flat.

My own ears flatten at Roanoke's remark; that sounds familiar. What is his problem? I'm already uneasy about this situation. What if, when we get there--assuming we get there at all--Rutt and Tuke have moved on to find better grazing? I decide not to voice this concern yet; the Spirits only know what Roanoke would say to that.
Next time I run into someone's long-lost father, I swear, he can find his offspring without my help.
I look around again, desperate to find something to confirm Koda's directions. And there it is: on the ground, faintly, I see tracks! Bear tracks, mine and Koda's. I sniff at them to be sure; my sense of smell is one part of being a bear that I'm still getting used to.

OOC: "Next time I run into someone's long-lost father, I swear, he can find his offspring without my help." I love that quote. ;D
BIC: Roanoke tosses his head uneasily as he watches Kenai's ears flatten. The Moose dearly wishes he were still with Ring-Of-Fire instead of this Bear... Bears can't be trusted after all.
Roanoke's ears cock as he watches Kenai sniff some tracks from a casual snuff Roanoke recgonized as Kenai and Koda's. "One would think you weren't used to being a Bear," Roanoke comments in his cold, drawling voice.
