A Japanese fansite has photos of a McDonald's promotional calendar featuring Brother Bear 2, giving us our first look at Nita. While this is only promotional artwork, and therefore doesn't reflect the quality of animation in the film itself, it does give us a peek at what we might expect. It looks like that necklace Nita is holding will be of some importance; it's a shame the photos don't give a clear view of it, but it doesn't look like a totem. The artwork appears on the page for September, suggesting that is when the sequel will be released in Japan. The report, as usual, came from Animated News; and the fansite itself is Disney's Bear Friends, which can be found in the links on Nikiski's site.

Ah cool! Niki showed me this before and tried to upload it to his site in an update, but he was having problems with it and couldn't upload it at the moment. The promotional artwork already has me interested in the sequel, Nita looks sort of cute. At first look for me, it looks like a height chart from McDonald, but now I notice it's a calendar. Silly me XD

Hmmm.....is it just me or does Nita look a lot like Pocahontas? I just hope she doesn't end up falling for Kenai. I think she's more like Denahi's type. What about you guys? Don't you guys agree?

Hmm, nah she looks to me, well frankly, what Kenai would look like if he had been a girl. As for having her fall for Kenai- well, as long as she get turns into a bear too and they don't obsess about the romance (I hate romance), then I'm fine and dandy with it. And as for her being more Denahi's type- what makes you say that? Nothing yet is known about her personality. That aside, and while I know this is merely promotional art (as Epesi said), I certainly hope the quality will be at least as good as in this picture. Live long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

And I don't think he needs some stupid old chick too fall for him, even though we hardly even know about her. And besides, I think its Denahi who should have a girlfriend in this sequel and NOT Kenai. But yeah, frankly you're quite right EbonyPatriot, Nita DOES look like a female version of Kenai's human form. Weird huh? I guess that explains why it looks like she's wearing the same clothes as Kenai did in the first movie.

Nadine, Kenai is a fictional character. You cannot be "in love" with him. You have a crush; that's perfectly normal. But this jealousy is not rational.
You can't be with Kenai in real life, and they're not going to make the sequel about you. You should learn to appreciate Kenai as a character without obsessing over his fictional love life.
If he ends up with Nita in the sequel, it won't be the end of the world. To be perfectly honest, I don't want them to hook up either, for my own reasons. If they do, I'll be disappointed; but that's the way things are. I'm not going to carry a grudge for the rest of my life because Kenai got a girlfriend.

I don't think any of us want any romance in this movie. I know I don't. Kenai may be just a fictional character, but he sure is one good-looking character from the movie. So therefore I guess crush would be the right word for it. But I'm NOT jealous!!!! At least....I don't think I am.

You are jealous. You've said before, on many occasions, that you don't like Nita because you fear she will take Kenai away from you; that is jealousy. Returning to the original subject, I'm not sure how I feel about Nita's appearance just yet. Like EP said, she looks like a female Kenai; to me, the resemblance is more than a little uncomfortable. One of the things I loved about the first film was the diversity in character design; it just doesn't make sense that the artists would so blatantly recycle a design from one major character to another. On the other hand, promotional artwork often loses the subtleties of character design; characters often don't look quite themselves, and it wouldn't be unusual for them to look more like someone else. It could be that, once we get a look at the finished product, Nita won't look quite so eerily familiar. (Maybe her clothes will be a different color, too. ) So, as usual, I'm trying to reserve judgment until then. Another possibility I've considered, though one I don't like quite as much, is that Nita is supposed to look just like Kenai, to emphasize the link to his past; an image of his former self. For the time being, however, I've got my money on the simpler explanation.

Nita is supposed to be look just like Kenai?!?!? That explains why she looks like a female version of him. What if she was Kenai's long-lost twin sister or something? No wait, what the heck am I talking about?!

I never said that was the case. I said it might be. It's just a theory; I have no way of knowing either way at this point.

*Sighs* Great, just great. If there really is gonna be romance in this sequel, then I'm not gonna be seeing it. There's no way I'm gonna see my Kenai being with some dumb old chick in this movie whose supposed to be his dumb old childhood friend. But really, you don't think that I'm really, no really, REALLY am obessing over Kenai just cause I love him a lot? And speaking about disney sequels, do you ever realized that a lot of people complained about them ruining the original disney classics? Well now I'm beginning to think that they're probably right.

Thank you, Epesi, for unwittingly summing up my thoughts on the matter. *Nod of gratitude* Er, to be perfectly frank, yes - I mean true, you have every right to refuse to see the sequel. But are you really going to let your obession with your crush on Kenai prevent you from seeing what just might be(who knows?) the best direct-to-video sequel ever made just because it has romance? No matter how bad they may be, sequels don't ruin the original classics. It doesn't matter how badly butchered the DTV may be; the first film itself is forever unharmed. Like just because, in my own humble opinon, TLK 2 wasn't good doesn't mean I can't go back and still enjoy the first one as much as I did when I first viewed it. And as for the design, I hope Epesi's right and Nita will look a little more unique come final film. Live long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

Thank you, Epesi, for unwittingly summing up my thoughts on the matter. *Nod of gratitude* It's my pleasure. You've done the same for me more than once, now. ;D If there really is gonna be romance in this sequel, then I'm not gonna be seeing it. Like EP said, it's your right to choose whether or not you see the sequel -- and I think, frankly, if the idea of romance bothers you that much, then you really shouldn't watch it. But that is exactly the problem: why should it bother you? If Kenai falls in love with Nita, nothing will have changed in your life.Again, like EP said, a sequel can never destroy the original. If you don't like Brother Bear 2, then you forget about it, keep watching the original, and move on.

Well I don't know, somehow when I first heard about them making Brother Bear 2, I got really excited. But then when Nita came along in this sequel, its been bugging me for quite a long while already.
But I have a question, since I may or may not see Brother Bear 2, are the rest of you guys gonna go and see this sequel? Just asking that's all.
