The other day I was eating at a McDonalds and noticed some kids playing at the game play area where they had a N64 set up with Kirby on it. Watching the kids play, they couldn't even figure out the simplest of controls. They would just press the control to move and directly walk into every enemy in their way. All they did was press the jump button and would take at least 1 minute to figure out how to get past a block in front of them. I mean seriously, these weren't 5 or 6 year olds. These could at least been a little better at playing games. So now I'm thinking that videogame era is coming to end. I mean, think about it. When I was a kid. 8 out of 10 homes would have a Nintendo or Sega Genesis console in their homes. Even the lower class like myself who now-a-days can't afford the price of a 600$ Playstation 3. So what's left? Only the rich can afford games, Arcades are emptying out because people prefer to play at home, The graphics have reached their peak and no longer appeal to the kids. So what will happen to videogames in the future?

You forgot about computers. Graphic cards developers (nVidia and ATI) are making faster ans faster graphic cards. Tight now I'm just shocked how game can look. But of course everyone need to have very powerful computer. That's why some copmpanies started to work together (For example ATI and AMD (which are one company already XD) where AMD makes processors which will work better with ATI than with nVidia).
Besides in here videgames aren't dying. I still have a PS2, by nepphew still have PSX and my friend bought a Xbox 360 last time. I know that consoles are more expensive, but that's normal when you look at technology used to create them.

Just becuse a fast food restaurant can't afford a next gen system doesn't mean the public can't either. i have a Wii, and want to get a PS3.

That's my point. A really good computer is too expensive. And all of the new next gen systems enphasize on the need of a high definition TV to get the most out of it. It's all becoming too expensive for people who don't have a lot of money. Although at least I can say that Nintendo is focusing on these concerns. 100$ for a Gamecube and the backward compatability with old NES and SNES games is a great plus. Nintendo is still my last resiliance.

PS2Was also great stuff, because it could run games from PSX. But now you won't play in any games from PSX or PS2 on PS3, because now there are Blu-Ray discs which are using blue laser instead of red.
And about computers part... well... games are becoming more reality with every new title. And to make it so reality computers NEED so much power... besides in here there's no videogames in McDonald's restaurants (and any other...).

Actually, it is possible to play PS2 games on a PS3, although there are various in-game issues. I read a list sony had made with a list of all the PS2 games, that more or less flawlessly could be played on a PS3..... unfortunately they removed this feature from the European version of the PS3, so either buy a PS3 from America/Asia, or buy a modified European one, and spend extra money!

*sigh* Well games are only going to get more advanced and more expensive. Normally, things start out only for the rich and are then available for everybody. It seems things are beginning to reverse with video games. My Stepdad bought the XBox on its release date for £500!! That's over $1,000 in U.S. money with the current exchange rates!! We also bought a 360 for got knows how much money. And my friend bought his PS3 for £750... over $1,500 U.S. with the exchange rates!! He brought it over for a sleepover one day. Sure, the graphics and sound were amazing... but they really weren't worth what he payed for it. Even with a huge 37 inch hig defenition TV and 5.1 surround sound, it still wasn't worth what he payed. Oh well... I gave up on video games a couple of years ago anyway.

got a gaming computer ps3 360 sold my little wii wii hate the thing. Its new i made the mistake of getting a core 2 duo but i got to keep it uptodate wateing for the new parts so not the full thing. o yes the ps3 hasn't been fully harnessed in power take a look at the e3 2007 video of killzone 2 and ratchet and clank future tools of destruction. Also yes the buildings and things flying in the background are there and yes you can walk through them. in power the Wii Wii takes last 360 second and the ps3 is in the lead. In fact the ps3 is so fast they are using it for medical rechearch. If your a casual gamer get the 360 ps3 is hard core and the wii wii is for your parents and grand parents or anyone above 30 or below 7. computer is a: Intel Core 2 duo 2.4ghz nividia 8800gts OC <- in shipping razer barracuda 7.1 sound card BFG tech physics processor <- in shipping 22" 2ms led monitor g15 logitech keyboard g7 logitech mouse movies: killzone - www.gametrailers.com/player/21504.htmlratchet and clank FTOD - www.gametrailers.com/player/22520.html

^I really don't believe in hardcore and casual games. Games are just games and labeling the Wii as only for parents, grandparents and people below 7 and above 30 is being a bit ignorant. The Wii is for EVERYBODY. But I digress. But I'm curious, where did you hear they're using the PS3 for medical research? The videogame age isn't dying, it's more like getting complicated. Consoles are starting to get more expensive with every generation that passes. Look at the PS3, in my opinion Sony took the PS2's success for granted and filled the PS3 with a lot of belts and whistles and slapped a $600 pricetag on it believing it'll continue with the PS2 success. But look at it now, it's dead last in the polls and are collecting dust while the Wii, the least expensive and economic one, is selling like hotcakes. Not everyone is getting into gaming because of the pricetags. So far in my opinion Nintendo is going on the correct path keeping their prices as economic as possible and they are raking in a lot of money this way. The DS is as popular as ever and the Wii is picking up the pace and following the DS' road in terms of popularity so far. Not only is the pricetag a turnoff for people, but also the game titles. Not everyone likes the same games others do. Lately I've been going around game titles and barely nothing gets my interest except a few titles. Videogames aren't what they're used to anymore. The Xbox is riddled with first person shooters, PS2 is full of RPG and adventure games (Not a bad thing, but they're usually violent and not many people like that) and the Nintendo games are full of light-hearted adventure games and puzzles (A broader audience but with the whole "kiddy" image the "mature" audience goes away, which is another ignorant situation in my opinion.) But anyway, currently Nintendo is trying to appeal to a much broader audience to get more people into gaming, especially as a family since these games they are developing are especially multiplayer. While Sony and Microsoft are playing it safe doing the same old thing, which I repeat it's NOT a bad thing. People just need time to get used to the controls and the gameplay before they start appreciating and having fun with these games. The problem is that the games aren't just pick up and play anymore, they take time to get used to and get the hang of it, which this is usually the problem people don't stick with gaming. Do you have any idea how many games my mom and a few friends of mine turn down because they don't give the game time to get the hang of but they stick to games they can easily pick up and play? Yeah, in my opinion that's the problem. Just my two cents on the discussion.

I have tried to use the Wii remote before in gaming and I don't really like it. It feels too strange to me. Plus I could never get the WiiSports to work for me, even though I'm mimicking what Kylie and Jana were doing.

I don't feel a blue-ray disc was a wise choice on Sony's part. This is what is causing the console to be more expensive than usual. One could use that $600 (well now $500 anyway) and buy a cheap computer instead, which comes with more stuff than the PS3.
Also, if I heard correctly, the blue-ray disc drive is the reason the PS3 is not backwards compatible. This is one of the two biggest reasons why I'm not getting a PS3 anytime soon. I'm not paying $500-$600 for just the console and then even more money on just a game to play.
Incorrect. If there was nothing inside it, it wouldn't work at all.

I finally found this article which lists the advantages and disadvantages of each of the 3 consoles.
Not one of the consoles is perfect, of course. I don't feel any of these three consoles is bad, but I don't think any of them are overly good either.

no not really i find most of my games i can play but it was the smartest choise to use blue ray if you rember halo 2 had to cut things becuse they didnt have ehough room on the dvd wich is (9.4gigs duble sided 4.7gigs per side) the xbox 360 still uses dvd as the game format and the hd dvd can play hd dvd that have a copacity (double sided of 30 gigs 15 per side) now destroying it all is blue ray (double sided can store 50gigs 25 per side) so you have ample room to place all the stuff. What is the limiting factor in current games is the amount of stuff they can store on the disk not the hardware with the exception of the wii. blue ray also has a faster transfer rate
There is not much inside of the wii if you look at it the prosesser is a pcpower Broadway with a core clock of 729mhz and the video is a ati Hollywood clocked at 243 mhz with gddr3 ram <- only good thing about it
the ps3 is a whole different story with a 3.2ghz cell processor and a Nividia RSX 550mhz core clock gddr3 but thats jest half of it the north bridge from the processor to the grfx card has a link speed of 15ghz and a grfx to processor speed of 20ghz all in all the processor is apx 450% more powerful and the grafx card is about double what the wii can produce.
what im saying about if you got a dell home computer the ps3 can over exceed or computers processing compatibility ability about 25% - 50% even if its duel core
