I think there is a fine line between copyright and just simple similarities. If you made something from scratch. Didn't take any source that you don't own, then you aren't copyrighting. The differences in some fan-art might depend though. I don't know about that. But if I drew something that was just similar, I don't think I'd be held accountable of stealing if I didn't use the exact material. But yes, you can be scolded for fan-art too. I got one of my drawings moved to scraps in my DA account because of it. Even though I drew it myself. I had to show that it didn't belong to me.

And actually, they are. Screenshots can be protected as fair use in many cases, but not all; on the other hand, fan art and fiction are technically illegal. Fortunately for us fans, Disney and many other companies (and individual copyright holders) tolerate, and even sometimes encourage, our derivative works, recognizing them as positive feedback rather than a threat. But some copyright holders are not so generous; I've seen a few cases of authors who sent their fans nasty cease-and-desist letters to take fanfics off their websites (Anne McCaffrey is a notable example). While I think that's unfair, there's nothing I can do about it; it's their legal right.

Putting the stuff back on the site is simple, yes, but is it wise? I guess you could say it could be debated. One side could be that they finally come to their senses and realize that music videos aren't threatening their company. The other side is that they'll react fiercer, and do something even more drastic.

That's a good point but.. I was thinking if Disney supports fan fictions and fan art then why don't they like fan videos? just a thought.

I think it's because they assume that those making fan videos are downloading the movie illegally, rather than burning it from their own DVDs that they have, and of course it's losing money.

Yeah that makes sense. Then why don't they get rid of all the sites that have the illegal videos?

I doubt sites like that will ever go away completely. Someone will always find the tech and know-how and be able to do it all over again.

I already told you, Eddi, putting it back up could result in a fiercer reaction from Disney or other companies. It might work, but it also could be a huge mistake and backfire.

Actually...it seems your wrong Youtube search More Brother Bear Videos have popped up, and reasons why they dont come up on a normal Brother Bear search is because the user uploades by the song name a few times...theres about 5 new videos up that i hadnt seen....maybe that whole take down was just a warning to us to not screw up...maybe they arent going to take it down as long as they dont see a whole movie put up agian
