Thought I'd make a new thread for this, hope that's all right.
The roleplay's been dead for a while. :\ I'd really like to see it continue, as it's barely got off the ground compared to the RPs this board used to see. Unless Koedi comes back, to keep the RP moving we're going to need somebody else to play Koda, at least temporarily.

Yeah, it's a bit sad to see that Koedi left and the RP has come to a halt. I wish he would come back so we could continue, his RP as Koda was good. Maybe someone else wants to RP as Koda to get the RP moving again?

I think it's a good idea. I have Koedi in my contact list and it seems that he's distracted with other things. I asked him about continuing the roleplay but I'm not sure he has the time. So it would be good to find a replacement.

No takers right now? If nobody else wants to then I could fill in temporarily, just to get things moving, but it'd be great if someone else wanted to.
We could really use more players. :\ Anyone is more than welcome to join in.

Would you mind if I joined? If you're not too tired of seeing me use Truttle all the time. ^^;

Not at all. :3 It'd be great to have you! I haven't roleplayed with your character in a very long time. ^^

Okay, for people just starting out, I thought I'd just describe the current state of the roleplay. The roleplay's not very long yet; on the one hand, that makes it faster to read it from the beginning, but on the other hand it hasn't acquired much "history" yet; there's not much you need to know. If you want to play as an original character, I don't think reading the thread from the beginning should be necessary. However, if you want to take over playing Koda, you will definitely have to read from the beginning to remain consistent. The time: Probably around noon, the day after the first film's climax on the mountaintop (meaning Kenai's ceremony at the end has not happened yet.) The place: An uncrowded part of the salmon run river, sort of on the outskirts. The story so far: Kenai and Koda have recently returned to the river after spending the night on the mountain with Denahi. Along the way, they were joined by one full-grown mammoth and his two young siblings, who tagged along to play and relax at the river.* Since their arrival, they've met two (unrelated) black-furred orphan bear cubs, Dash and Ken'ichi. There was a brief episode of drama when Dash ran away rather than reveal that he doesn't know how to fish, but with encouragement from Kenai he rejoined the little gathering. Further drama ensued when Dash unintentionally provoked Kenai by getting a bit nosy about his painful secret, but this was quickly resolved and apologies were made. After that, the cubs got to see a show of Kenai's complete lack of fishing skills, much to his embarrassment. * Since Lilik hasn't been around in a while, we can assume the mammoths are staying out of the way, possibly in the surrounding woods. Some useful notes: If you're a regular at the salmon run and you've been around during the events of the movie, chances are you know a bit about Kenai: you know that he's new here, and he's very strange, but he and Koda have become close as brothers. You might have spoken with him face-to-face, but nobody knows him very well yet. You probably noticed that he and Koda disappeared for a full day; those who know Koda well might be a little worried. However, gossip travels fast, and Kenai's weirdness is certainly gossip-worthy, so you might already know that Kenai and Koda returned this morning with three mammoths in tow. Nobody knows about Koda's mother just yet, though some may be starting to wonder, especially after Koda's story. Some may be waiting in vain for her to arrive. The behavior of the lights yesterday might have struck you as odd. It's nothing major, just somewhat interesting, like witnessing a shooting star. Naturally, if your character is just arriving at the salmon run, you don't know any of this yet. Oh, here's something everyone, myself included, seems to have forgotten: Kenai is wearing his totem now. It's rather large and noticeable, so sooner or later someone ought to remark on it.

Just posting to say I'm getting ready to head to the airport to return from Moscow to Houston; I'll arrive tomorrow night by US time, and I'll probably be home late. I'll post in the roleplay then if I'm not completely exhausted.

You went ahead without waiting for a response. :\ That strikes me as a little bit rude, though I realize you're just over-eager. The answer would have been yes anyway, and unless anyone has an objection it still is. Just be patient, as people are busy and the roleplay can be slow.
Have you read the roleplay so that you know what's going on? Just checking.
I'm sorry I've taken so long on my turn; I'm too tired to put together a very coherent post right now, but I'll try tomorrow.

I did not mean to be rude in the slightest. Yes I have read the roleplay and I should be the one apologizing.

I hope I haven't held anyone back with my slow replies. :\ There wasn't much for Kenai to do, so I should have excused myself from that turn.
I won't be here this weekend and I don't know about the following week; Kenai is sort of sitting on the sidelines of the conversation at the moment, so until further notice you can skip my turns, unless something major happens (like if ninjas attack, then I'd like a chance for Kenai to react. XP)

I've had a couple of people ask me in private messages for permission to join, so I'd like to reiterate here: everyone is welcome to join. You don't need anyone's permission, least of all mine. It'd be nice if you announce yourself here, though. It's helpful to keep track of things. :3

I'm announcing myself! Jasper is going to try his hand at RPing. I'm still a little new to RP, so bear with me. I haven't been able to come up with a backstory for him, so I guess I'll just come up with it as I go. I really don't want to kill the RP by getting busy and people waiting for me to respond. Which seems to have happened here sometimes. There's another RP forum (Housepets) where this was suggested: Ok with people jumping in, and out of a game... there will be times that you'll be waiting weeks, or even MONTHS for someone to respond! This would be BAD. So here's what we're going to do:If you're waiting for more then three days for a person to respond feel free to take minor control of their character to keep the story going... keeping in with what the character would do of course. I don't know if you think that would help, or if you want to do that or not. I thought I'd suggest it. =3

Considering the pace that roleplay here has dropped to, and the realities of this kind of roleplay in general, that may indeed be the best solution. I do think minor ought to be a key word here, but whatever it takes to keep things moving. We are here to have fun. :3
This should probably go double for canon characters. I know I've neglected Kenai terribly of late, and I feel guilty for dragging the roleplay down. In fact, I've debated whether to keep playing Kenai at all. I've always enjoyed playing the part, but I haven't been feeling it lately. If someone is interested, maybe we can discuss that here.
I'm just always a little bit concerned about this turning into a round robin instead of a roleplay. To me the appeal of roleplay is "becoming" a character and interacting personally with other characters; I hope that this solution allows these interactions to happen more easily without damaging that personal connection. Otherwise, it just becomes a collaborative fanfic -- an entertaining pastime too, but a different one.
Anyway, welcome, Jasper! :3 Thanks for your interest and your suggestion.
