Well, here's a topic I don't think I've seen around here, but correct me if I'm wrong. Does anybody here practice any martial arts? :3 Even if you don't, feel free to join in and talk about what you'd like to learn or what interests you.
I've started taking Aikido at college this semester, and I love it. ;D It's loads of fun, and my sensei and classmates are great. It's a great workout, too; I'm tired and sore right now from tonight's class, but it's a good kind of pain. XD I'm starting to feel stronger. I only wish I'd started this sooner.
In the future I hope to learn other arts too, but I intend to stick with Aikido; I want to earn a black belt one day.

Nope I'm not really into the whole martial arts thing really. I did take Karate when I was very little but that didn't last too long.

I've always been fascinated by martial arts, just love watching it and seeing how it's done.
Somehow, despite loving the arts, I never bothered to sign up to learn it. I do remember my mom tried to get me into Tae Kwon Do (Is even spelled right?) when I was little, but I guess I was too shy to enroll or something.
These past couple of years I have been considering about trying my hand at signing up for a class, but with so many to choose from I can't decide. XD Kung Fu is probably the one I'm more interested in, followed by Hapkido (Or at least I think it's Hapkido, the one where you're taught the ways of the sword).
It does sound like a fun and quite a good workout, and you could always use the knowledge of self-defense to get yourself out of a tight spot just in case you ever get into trouble.

I haven't really done any of these, either. I tried Capoeira once (though I'm not so sure if it's actually a martial art), but I was a bit too lazy to continue. It does sound like a fun and quite a good workout, and you could always use the knowledge of self-defense to get yourself out of a tight spot just in case you ever get into trouble. True. It sure would be good to practice and know something.

I tried Kung-Fu as a child, but my sensei wasn't very good. After a couple of months, he'd taught me literally nothing. I was super obedient too. After a while I gave up. All he really had me do was throw a stick and kick my hands a bit.
When I was 11, I took up Karate. This was a much better class. I picked it up relatively quickly. Was very hard-working at it, and it let me get a lot of anger out. I stuck with it for three years, obtaining 10 belts, 3 medals, and 6 badges. Black was number 13, and I was keen to get it, but then I came down with depression and anorexia. I lost motivation and stopped going. I feel proud I got into the senior belts, but I really wish I hadn't left.
I'd go back, but it'd be embarrassing. I mean, I'm a brown belt and knew 8 of 15 katas and 3 complete kions (katas and kions are basically move combinations. Katas are longer and done alone. Kions are short and done in pairs). Now I can barely remember the 1st kata, and don't know any kions. Plus I'm out of shape. I still remember moves (even one that can kill a man (not trying that though!)) and stuff, but just can't bring myself to go back knowing people will look at me like "Why can't that brown belt to kushanku?" >___>
