OOC: Ah thanks Epesi; it's great to be back. ^_^
BIC: With Savik's reply, the caribou respond differently to this faux pas: Kemano scoffs at their rudness, Kalone lays back her ears in annoyance, and Tuktu's ears perk forward, remembering Tyonek's comments about the beasts' actions. "Sure," says Tuque, turning. "You see though, Dad's looking for EbonyPatriot too."
Vetus, meanwhile, like Savik, does feel sorry for Kalone; a feeling only slightly distracted by his disgust at Kemano's actions: they remind him too much of Nebula.
Sollew wonders why Kemano cannot tell that Kalone is fast loosing her patience (the little cub is swift to notice such things for herself to better avoid angering a beast).
Tuque turns and starts away, ears back nervously as Kemano and Kalone follow. True, these predators are friends of Tyonek, but it's uncomfortable having his back turned on them.
Within a few mintes however, Tuque stops looking behind him and sighs in relief. A pregnant copper-brown cow has stepped away from the nervous herd and approaches the youngsters.
"Mom," says Tuque before Minto can reply. "These are Dad's friends; they say they're looking for him. "
"I was wondering about that," replies the female, staring at the cats with ears pricked. "Take the herd away, and take Kemano and Kalone with you."
Tuque uneasily glances at the two and starts off, looking back at Minto until the herd starts off in the distance. Kalone trots to keep up with Tuque; Kemano starts to hurry, sighs, and returns to the herd, deep in thought.
Minto watches them leave, warily keeping her ears to Savik, Vetus and Sollew before turning to face them. "Hello, friends of Tyonek," she says. "I'm Minto, by Benito out of Kokanee. You must be Savik, Vetus, and Sollew, am I right?"
Minto glances at the distant storm. "Tyonek is looking for EbonyPatriot now, but I can take to where I last saw him, if you'd like."

Oh here we go. The young bear rolled his eyes once Koda began with his stories. Now there's something he didn't miss at all, the cub's ramblings and nonstop stories. On and on and on he goes. When does he stop, nobody knows.
The young bear lead the group through the forest, retracing his steps from the journey he was on before meeting the group again. And during the whole way he was putting up with Koda's stories...Until he couldn't take it anymore.
"Please spare this 'grouchy' bear of any more of your talking, kid," Ken'ichi interrupted Koda, the unlimited stories getting on his nerves. It might be a jarring change from how he used to be for Koda, but Ken'ichi's shoulder had him in a rather foul mood, and time since their last meeting weren't kind to him.

It's a jarring change indeed, and it silences Koda as effectively as a slap to the face. The "kid" part particularly stings; he'd always thought of Ken'ichi as one of his peers, an equal -- not to mention a friend. Ears drooping, he falls back in line to walk beside Kenai.
As for Kenai, the sudden reprimand and following silence have stirred him out of his worries about the Thunderbirds. He frowns and furrows his brow at Ken'ichi's back -- only he gets to talk to Koda that way -- but he doesn't say anything. Now is not the time to get into it. Instead, he gives Koda a sympathetic nuzzle.
---
There's another moment of awkward tension for Savik when she sees Kemano's and Kalone's reactions; she can see that the caribou are less than pleased with her manners, but she's not certain what she did wrong. However, there's no time to worry about such things.
Her ears perk up with interest at the news that Tyonek is already looking for EbonyPatriot. This could make part of their job easier, at least.
She tries to look as nonthreatening as possible as they approach the herd, with heavy-lidded eyes -- an obvious sign to a cat, but she has no clue whether caribou would recognize it. She can't really fault them for their caution, but it does make her appreciate Tyonek's remarkable confidence around predators, something she had been initially surprised by and yet quickly came to take for granted during her time in the Pack. She's somewhat relieved when the three young caribou take their leave with the rest of the herd.
Savik nods at Minto, glad to be able to skip the awkward introductions this time around.
"That would be perfect, thank you."

EbonyPatriot bristles at Ken'ichi's aggression and is about say something when he remembers that Ken'ichi isn't in a good mood with the Troodon either. With that, EbonyPatriot settles for a soft growl.
"With these Thunderbirds, we can't be fighting ourselves," he says softly, trying to keep the growl out of his voice. "I don't know if these females will help Turgor."
---
Sollew and Vetus watch the herd with interested looks, holding their tongues until Minto tells them follow her after Savik replies. Vetus is about to ask Minto how long Tyonek's been gone when the caribou speaks.
"Tyonek spoke much about you," Minto says. "You fought bravely."
Vetus can't help a glance at Savik's foreleg.
Sollew gallops up to Minto's side, trying to find a polite way to ask her question. Settling on it, she says, "Minto, how come you're so...round and Kalone's not?"
Vetus groans and flattens his ears. "Sollew!"
Minto laughs softly. "Oh don't worry, Vetus; Tuque asked his share of embarrassing questions too.
"Little one, that's because I'm having a fawn; a little brother or sister for Tuque. Kalone isn't this spring.
"Kemano's hoping to make Kalone his mate, as you probably gathered. But Kalone only loves one stag, just like Tyonek and me..." Minto's voice drops to whisper and her ears go back. The jealousy the rest of the cows showed her for monopolizing Tyonek's affection still stings.
Finally, Minto says: "Kalone loves Tuque, but Tuque's afraid to ask her."
Sollew had thought Minto might be expecting a fawn. "Will Tuque be able to play with the fawns?"
"Sure," says Minto. "Tuktu's looking forward to racing with the younger sibling. Kalone has plenty of siblings (she was Keno's last fawn, you know), so she's been telling him what to expect."

OOC: hah, I feel bad now XD
He enjoyed the silence for a while...Then he was bored of it. Good news was though that when boredom settled in they had made pretty good time on their travel; they should be near the old territory again soon at this pace.
"We're making good time, just a bit more," he told the others, no doubt the silence a mental stab at him for his outburst earlier today. "Kamali should be around here somewhere...Let's try and sniff him out..."
He sniffed the air for any traces of his brother, finding none close by. The surroundings brought many memories back to the young bear, not all of them good. He kept his eyes open for any traces or scents on Nikisi...But found none. Why am I not surprised...
"Come on, maybe back home we'll find him," he said after some hesitation, leading the way back to the cave he calls...called home.

OOC: Heh, don't feel bad -- conflict keeps things interesting. ;D
Being hard to keep down for long, Koda has dealt with his own boredom and disappointment by making a game of walking in his companions' rain-filled pawprints, as he often does in this kind of weather. He's still a little subdued, his heart not entirely in the game, but it keeps him occupied enough not to dwell on his hurt feelings.
He looks up mid-splash when Ken'ichi speaks up, and his spirits rise at the prospect of seeing Kamali again soon. Koda starts sniffing too, eager to help, but of course he doesn't find anything either. Still, the hope that Kamali is not far off is enough to put the bounce back in his step as the group begins moving again.
There's still no bounce in Kenai's step, however. He is utterly bounceless.
---
"Tyonek fought well, too," Savik replies awkwardly -- it seems appropriate to pay a compliment with a compliment. "If only we had been better prepared, and truly known what we were up against..."
She trails off, looking down at her leg.
Sollew's curiosity takes the sabertooth's mind off the unpleasant memories of the Pack's defeat; Savik smirks in amusement as the little lynx embarrasses her father once again.
She's initially unimpressed when the subject turns to the younger caribou and their love triangle -- gossip is one thing she's never missed about her old pride -- but in spite of herself, the last part piques her curiosity. She raises a brow. After Sollew's latest question has been answered, she asks her own.
"What is Tuque afraid of? Does he not recognize Kalone's affections?"

OOC: Heh I agree. BIC: EbonyPatriot's temper cools during the walk as well and he turns to wondering who else he can find to help them. When Ken'ichi mentions that Kamali is near, EbonyPatriot sighs softly. "I can't scent that well," the Troodon admits. (True, he can scent better than an eagle; but not nearly as well as even a vulture). "But I can see well," he adds more cheerfully. I wonder if he remembers, thinks the Troodon (for when he first met Ken'ichi he had commented on his night vision) as starts to scan for Kamali's black coat and white eye patch. --- Minto sighs. "Oh it took him a while; you know how males are." "Hey!" shouts Vetus, unable to keep a smile off his muzzle. "They were best friends growing up. Once Tuque realized that loved him, well, he became very shy. Tuque loves her and knows that she loves him; but he's afraid, not of fighting Kemano, but of saying the wrong thing, messing it up. Tuque worries he's wrong; that perhaps Kalone only likes him for his rank (it may not be fun to be chief; but there is glamour as the chief's mate). It doesn't help Kalone doesn't really like to talk unless someone talks to her. "Poor Tuque, he'll come around eventually," concludes Minto sadly. "Ah, young love," smiles Vetus; though his eyes reflect his sadness: this, too, is turning his mind to Aerguo. "Well," says Sollew. "When I find a mate, I'm going to tell him right away that I love him. I'm not going to let him worry like Kalone." "You sound like Kemano," replies Vetus softly. "Besides, that'll be a year or so yet." Sollew flattens her ears and looks toward the storm. She doesn't like that Minto's heading in that direction. "I don't like thunder..." she says softly. "Like a Thunderbird?" replies Minto swiftly. "That reminds me: like I told my friend Roanoke, I've seen some Thunderbirds around lately. Two females fighting with each other. Tyonek told me about your experience with Turgor," she says softly. Vetus snarls. "Was Turgor with them?" "No, just two females: a blue-gray and a yellow." Vetus glances at Savik nervously. "I think I like talking about the Carbiou better," says Sollew.

"There will be times on this journey All you'll see is darkness..."
Aaaand there he is. Ken'ichi burrowed his brows. He recognized that voice and song anywhere. Kamali would often hum it when he was in a good mood...And sing it when he's in a great mood. It rather stung the young bear. Ken'ichi'd think that he'd be in a bad mood or something after he decided to leave to find another territory a couple of days ago.
...Or maybe he's actually glad that he's gone.
"Out there somewhere daylight finds you If you keep believing..."
"I found him," he spoke out to the others as he followed the singing voice. Sure enough a few pawsteps ahead hidden amidst the trees he found him, and he just stood there watching the older bear acting like he was his age...He was enjoying the downpour, frolicking and singing his way back home.
"So don't run, don't hide It will be all right You'll see, trust me I'll be there watching over you"
"Just take a look through my ey-" his singing only stopped when he bumped nose-to-nose against Ken'ichi, his eyes only snapping open from the bump as he had them closed during his oblivious singing. "Oh!"
"You and your singing," the young bear muttered at his brother.
Kamali smirked. "Hey hey, welcome home, brother bear. I can honestly say I didn't expect to see you again around here."
"And I suppose that ruined your good mood just now?"
"Not at all. But you know me when it comes to rain."
"Unfortunately."
"Deadpan'ish as ever," Kamali sighed. "So, what brings you back in the oh-so-horrible-land you said you weren't returning to?"
"Them," Ken'ichi nodded to the others.

When the song first reaches his ears, Kenai pauses in mid-step -- or, more accurately, mid-trudge. Amidst all the angst, anger and fear going around these days, it's just strange to hear someone sound so cheerful. Someone besides Koda, that is.
"I found him."
"Nice work, master tracker," Kenai mutters as he resumes walking toward the trees Ken'ichi has just disappeared into. Koda bounds ahead of his brother, back up to full pep now.
"Hi, Kamali!" he cheers as he bursts through the trees. "Long time no see, huh?"
---
As Minto wraps up the story, Savik furrows her brow, waiting for more. She glances at Vetus, and is only further vexed by his knowing, wistful look. Oh, she's heard of the strange and foolish behaviors romance seems to encourage, even seen it happen a few times -- just never to her. She simply can't relate. Why, if it were her...
"When I find a mate, I'm going to tell him right away that I love him. I'm not going to let him worry like Kalone."
Hearing Sollew voice a similar sentiment, Savik decides to keep her thoughts to herself on this matter. It seems that, for all her age and experience, in this area she is naive as a cub.
Upon the lynx's next remark, Savik also lifts her gaze to the looming storm clouds. Once, she could have reassured Sollew that there was nothing to fear, that the thunder couldn't hurt them; but these days, she knows she can't make that guarantee, and she fears the storm almost as much as the lynx. Well, not the storm itself, but what might be hiding within it.
The news of the strange Thunderbirds gets her full attention, her ears cupped forward; the mention of Turgor sets her short tail bristling, and her claws unconsciously dig into the ground. She meets Vetus's glance with one just as nervous.
"Thank you for the warning, Minto," she says, but for the third time in a row, she finds herself agreeing with Sollew.
---
Somewhere outside the storm, where the last snowfall is still untouched, a hooded, two-legged figure slumps against a tree with a sigh.
What was she thinking, that she'd just run into Kenai without trying? She's been tracking a bear, but the forest is full of them -- what are the odds of the first bear she runs into being Kenai? And if the first bear's not him, what are the odds that she'll live to meet the second?
Don't think that way, Nita scolds herself. The spirits gave you a gift. If you meet a bear, or...or something else...you can talk your way out of trouble. Just explain, calmly and rationally, that you're not a hunter, and you're not looking for a fight. Her hands tighten around her spear. Or to become lunch.
Closing her eyes, she takes a deep, measured breath, still gripping the spear tightly. She exhales slowly, relaxing her grip on the spear at the same time, releasing tension. Okay. You can do this. Back to work.
She pushes away from the tree and resumes tracking, ignoring the distant rumble of thunder. She doesn't look forward to walking in the rain, but it's not going to stop her; she can't afford any delays.
So whatever's making that rustling sound, it better not be a delay.

It took a second for Kamali to process the meeting, but once he did he couldn't keep that big broad smile off his face.
"Hahah, Koda! Kenai, EP! Why I don't believe it! Can this day get any better?"
Ken'ichi rolled his eyes and backed away a few paw steps, giving them room to chat and to make sure he wouldn't get sucked into the reunion again.
"It's been such a long time," Kamaili kept going, as cheerful and outgoing as always. "Hahah, what brings you boys out here? I thought I was the only bear who stayed behind."

OOC: Heh I liked how you used the song Ken'ichi; I thought that was a nice touch eh? Yay it's great to have Nita in the role-play; I rewatched the movie last night to try and be ready for her scenes. I hope it's okay if I have the twice mentioned female Thunderbirds meet her; I can change it if you'd like. BIC: EbonyPatriot sighs and approaches Kamali, heart beating fast. Oh it helps that Kamali is in a much better mood than Ken'ichi; still, the Troodon fears that the Kamali will respond to his apology in the same manner. "Kamali," EbonyPatriot, sighs head lowered. "I wanted to apolgozie to you... I;m sorry for running out on the Pack. I was so afraid... but I shouldn't have given into fear." The Troodon is finally able to meet Kamali's eyes. "Can you forgive me?" --- Minto's ear flicks back to hear Savik's statement before swiveling back to nervous scan the land. Vetus lays back his ears at such rudeness; that is, until a brindle coat catches his view. "Ferrugo!" The brindle cave lion, Vetus's brother-in-law through Talus, Ferrugo, had been watching the storm and is startled by Vetus's shout. "Oh hey Vetus! Sollew! Savik! Wow has it been two months already?! Heh I must slept through it!" Vetus groans; Sollew lays back her ears. "We're looking for Tyonek," says Sollew. "That's right," agrees Minto, relaxing a bit now that she sees Ferrugo is a friend of Vetus. "Oh, okay," says Ferrugo, springing into a lope and heading back to the pride. "I'll see you guys later!" Vetus sighs. "Ever since he was a cub, Ferrugo was never able to sit still for long." Minto's ears go back; this time to keep them warm as she starts for the approaching storm. Sollew whimpers and runs to Savik's forelegs, for Vetus has raced up to Minto. "Wait, you're taking us into a thunderstorm? But you just said the Thunderbirds were bad." "Why hello there strangers," laughs a Caribou thats runs out of the rain, silver fur soaked and the tendons in his legs snapping. "Looking for a shower, eh? Heheh, I'm Tyonek, by Mekoryuk out of Kaktovik. Who are you, pretty lady?" "Tyonek, that joke was funny the first; the hundredth..." Minto smiles and rubs her head against Tyonek's shaggy neck. "I missed you." "I missed you too, Minto." "Tyonek!" cries Sollew, running to paw Tyonek's forelegs. "You're not in the storm!" "Heh not at the moment," replies Tyonek. "Hello Sollew, Vetus, Savik. How was your winter?" --- “But Kapvik, when will I get to fight?” whines Waahkuuhtaan, pouncing on her brother’s bushy tail. Kapvik snarls, still thinking of Nebula and Tazer. The two are far from the Wolverine Pack, for Kapvik is in no hurry to return. “When you’re bigger, Waahkuuhtaan.” “But Kapvik…” Waahkuuhtaan sighs and scuttles to Kapvik’s muzzle. “Kapvik, that’ll take forever.” Kapvik snarls again, ears back. The Wolverine isn’t any fonder of Nebula than he is of Storm-stalkers; besides, a roll of thunder has hurt his ears. Waahkuuhtaan snarls back, her fiery temper triggered. Suddenly Kapvik races through the bushes. Waahkuuhtaan follows as fast as her paws can. “Oh Kapvik, I’m sorry for snarling at you.” "Shh!" hushes Kapvik after a while, skidding in the snow. "Look Waahkuuhtaan!' Waahkuuhtaan creeps to Kapvik's side and looks at Nita. Before she can snarl or get a scent of her, the young Wolverines spring back as two Thunderbirds land, alulas and tails spread to slow themselves. "Why, they're even bigger than Turgor," whispers Waahkuuhtaan. "Alkali," clacks the golden Thunderbird, her crest raised in anger. "Why are we doing this? She won't be able to understand us. Why won't you listen to me? This isn't a very cool way to treat your sister." "Ion, please," says the blue-gray Thunderbird, her ice-blue eyes meeting her sister's. "It won't hurt to ask. Please, human," says Alkali, turning to Nita. "We're unfamiliar with this land and we were wondering if you've seen our brothers: a black one with a red mask (that's Turgor) and a fire-red one with a silver mask (that's Ring-Of-Fire)."

OOC: That's fine; I left it open for you to decide who she'd run into. Kenai can't help but smile; it's refreshing to find someone still the same as he remembers them, and to have a reunion without any bitterness. "I think you almost were the only one," Kenai admits, a little sheepishly. "But we were...persuaded to come back." "We're getting the Pack back together!" Koda all but sings. "You're comin' too, right?" The brothers freeze as EbonyPatriot steps forward to apologize, looking from him to Kamali; despite Kamali's positive reaction thus far, seeing how anxious the troodon looks, Kenai and Koda feel a little anxious for him themselves. --- "Ferrugo," Savik returns the greeting with a nod, offering no other comment during the brief encounter. Remembering what Vetus told her earlier, she realizes with a small shock that Nebula is Ferrugo's sister, a fact that had not completely sunk in earlier. Knowing Ferrugo as she does -- which is, admittedly, not that well -- it's hard to believe he is sibling to a power-hungry killer. She wonders how he must have felt when it happened, what he thinks of his sister now. Caught up in these thoughts as she watches Ferrugo leave, Savik has fallen just a bit behind Vetus and Minto. Her thoughts are soon interrupted by Sollew, seeking comfort. Savik kneels down to nuzzle the lynx. "Well, we don't know that they are. Maybe these two are nothing like Turgor," reasons Savik, though she doesn't have high hopes, herself. She stands up straight in alarm at Tyonek's sudden appearance, claws slipping out and back in again just as quickly. While Tyonek's attention is on his mate, Savik takes the opportunity to see that her fur is lying flat again. "I've had better," she replies, "But any winter you survive is a good one. I have Vetus and his pride to thank for that." She smiles. "It's good to see you again, Tyonek." --- Nita creeps toward the rustling bushes, slowly reaching out her spear to push the foliage aside; but before she's able to catch a glimpse of the two young wolverines, her attention is stolen away by a sudden rush of air from above and behind. In an instant, she whirls around, gasps at the two enormous raptors, and stumbles backwards, landing on her rear. At least she manages to keep her spear in hand, clutching its shaft against her chest. Her heart pounds so loudly that she almost doesn't hear the golden Thunderbird's words, and in her panic, she almost doesn't recognize them as words at all. It takes her a moment to process it all -- the birds are talking, and she can understand them. Of course, that was the point of the spell, or blessing, or whatever it was. But it's one thing to be told you can talk to animals, and another thing entirely to actually hear them speak. She just gapes at the two Thunderbirds as they argue briefly, reminding her just a little of her aunts, Siqiniq and Taqqiq. And then the blue-gray one starts talking to her, and for a moment she just continues to gape. A Thunderbird is asking her for directions. Nita composes herself, laying down her spear. "I'm sorry," she replies, standing up and brushing some snow off her clothes. "You two are the first Thunderbirds I've ever seen, anywhere. At least, I think -- you are Thunderbirds, aren't you?"

"Hmmm," Kamali hummed, as if considering his options on whether to forgive EP or not. True, EP ran out on them in a very crucial and vulnerable moment for them all. But on the other paw life's too short to hold a grudge and stay angry at anyone, especially when someone such as EP went through such lengths for forgiveness.
'Oh for spirits sakes,' Ken'ichi grumbled under his breath. Kamali's stalling just for dramatic effect. He knows more than anyone that this brother of his is far too nice for his own good. If a tiger attacked him to kill and then came the next day asking for forgiveness Kamali would instantly wave it off, calling it something about 'the ways of nature'.
"Ahhh, how can I say no?" Kamali replied with a broad smile, not surprising to Ken'ichi as he rolled his eyes and made a mocking face. "Water under the bridge, eh? I can't stay mad at a friend."
'Aaaahh!!!' Ken'ichi mentally screamed. How can he be related to...To such a bee brained saint? He's convinced that when they were born all of the goody-two-shoe personality between their mother and father went straight to Kamali, giving him a colorful and optimistic outlook on life. 'And I'm stuck with the gritty reality visual, where the weak are prey and the strong survive.'
"As for getting the Pack back together," Kamali added as he looked at little Koda. "I'm all for the idea. It'd be nice to have company around again. Sure beats all the loneliness I've had the past few months."
"Um, hello? We've been living together those past few months," Ken'ichi added with a grumble, reminding Kamali that it hasn't been too lonely.
"Hahah, well given your bad moods and silence it's almost as talking to the walls," Kamali said to tease his brother.
"....." 'I will not strike down my own brother. I will not strike down my own brother. I will not strike down my own brother.'

OOC: Ah okay; just wanted to make sure. ^^
Heh Ken'ichi, was that a reference to Seekers? ^^
BIC: "Thank you, Kamali," says EbonyPatriot softly (though he can't keep a soft growl out of his voice at Ken'ichi's actions), "I appreciate it. Again, I'm sorry for leaving.
"It's good that you're coming with us. You see, Tazer's kit is old enough to fight now and if the kit is anything like his sire..." EbonyPatriot looks at Kenai and Koda, then Ken'ichi and Kamali. "We've got you guys. Do you know where anyone else is? Tyonek, Truttle, Vetus, Twinscar, Savik, Nikiski, Rex, Nertuark... and the cubs too: Sioul and Kirchy, etc?"
---
"It's good to see you too, Savik! I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay there. I saw you with them a few times when I was walking point," says Tyonek. "You've been doing well too, Vetus and Sollew."
"It's good to talk to you again, then," says Vetus, embarassed by his delay (though Vetus had been startled by Tyonek too, he had just been so happy not to go into the storm).
"Yep," agrees Tyonek stretching his injured right leg (for now both legs had been injured, though the Wolverines hadn't torn the the right foreleg as much as the left foreleg was). "How was the winter? Heard the sound of cub paws yet?"
"Not for two more months," says Vetus shortly. "Talus and Ferrugo, my sister and brother-in-law, are expecting though as I see you are."
"Yep, congrats all around," laughs Tyonek. "Hopefully we'll beat Tazer soon enough that I can see when the fawn is born."
"Yes so he can try to help the fawn up only to knock it over, like he did with Tuque," says Minto with a laugh. "Tyonek thought he was helping."
Tyonek lays his ears back before laughing as well. "Yes so that this fawn won't rub my face it like Tuque does.
"Ah good times. So, what are you guys doing here?" says Tyonek.
"Tuque, Kalone and Kemano found them," explains Minto (Vetus grows at the interruption). "They're looking for EbonyPatriot."
"Yeah that's what I was doing in the storm," sighs Tyonek. "You guys are welcome to join me after I walk Minto back to the herd. I, well I worry about her going back alone."
"Oh Tyonek!" says Minto softly. "You worry too much."
"So, guys, would you like to run back to the herd with me, or wait here?" says Tyonek. "If you want to come with me, of course. I could always catch up with you later."
---
Alkali smiles at Nita with Ion spreads her crest in mild surprise. "Yes; Pacific Thunderbirds, in fact. Well...thank you for your time human, says Alkali sadly. "Come on Ion."
Ion looks at Nita. "Thanks, human," she says before following her sister back to the sky.
Kapvik and Waahkuuhtaan look at each other. With a soft growl, Kapvik starts forward, trying to follow the human. Waahkuuhtaan, bored with the conversation runs out of the bushes and snarls at Nita with what she hopes is a fierce snarl. "Who are you, human?"
Kapvik snarls and races to Waahkuuhtaan's side. "And you wonder why you can't fight yet," he snarls before facing Nita. "What do you want?"

In anticipation of Kamali's choice, Koda leans so far forward that he could almost tip over. Kenai, on the other hand, catches sight of Ken'ichi's expression, and all the tension of the moment is lost. He can barely suppress his laughter. Is that what he looked like whenever Denahi was driving him up the wall? Minus the fur, of course.
When Kamali finally does announce his decision, Koda cheers again.
"Awesome, I knew you wouldn't let us down! Watch out Tazer, 'cause the Pack is back!" He does a few of his "moves" for emphasis.
"Welcome back to the freakshow," Kenai comments with a smirk. "But seriously, it's good to have you back, Kamali."
He's starting to feel better about this whole thing. Maybe a little positive attitude is just what they need; not even Koda could balance out Kenai's and Ken'ichi's combined angst before, but now Kamali is there to tip the scales. If nothing else, he ticks off his brother, giving Kenai something to laugh at.

As usual, Savik distances herself from the pleasantries, looking around at the surrounding trees and the looming storm while the others -- well, mainly Tyonek -- catch up and reminisce. She looks distinctly uncomfortable, like she's stumbled upon something private. She becomes much more at ease when the subject turns to their current task.
Hearing Vetus's irritated growl, Savik gives him a look. She nods at Tyonek.
"I understand your concern. Vetus and I are not the only hunters around, after all. And one can never worry too much," she adds wryly to Minto.
She then turns to Vetus. "I suppose we should wait here, don't you think? No need to frighten the herd again."

"Oh, sure, no problem," Nita responds automatically. She stands and watches, still a little dazed, as the Thunderbirds take off.
Then she remembers why she came out here, and why she can understand the speech of animals in the first place; the shock of the encounter had completely driven it out of her mind.
"Wait!" she calls urgently, but likely too late. "I'm looking for someone, too!"
She watches in dismay as the giant birds shrink with distance. Then, for the second time, a sudden noise from behind makes her turn around with a gasp. But as soon as she sees the source of the noise, her fear melts away; it's only a baby. It takes her a moment to recognize it as a wolverine. Despite their fierce reputation, which the kit seems to be attempting to live up to, she can't help but smile at it. She never realized they could be so cute.
"I'm Nita," she begins, but that's all she has time to say before the second wolverine appears; with another gasp, she steps back. This one is much larger -- she doesn't know wolverines well enough to say whether it's fully grown, but it looks close -- and, with that snarl, considerably less cute.
"I-I don't want any trouble." She casts a quick glance at her spear, still lying on the ground beside her; she'd feel better if it were in her hands, but she doubts it would be wise to reach for it now.
"I'm not here to hurt you or anything. I'm just trying to find a friend of mine. Maybe you've seen him? His name is Kenai, and he's..." She pauses as it dawns on her that she has no idea what Kenai looks like. "Um, well, he's...a bear."
