I looked at the cub in surprise. Where had he come from? "Yeah, they're gone," I said carefully.

"Oh, good..." The new cub sighed in relief. "Name's Denaik. What's wrong with him?" He whispered to Kirchy. It looked like the other cub had been crying, and for some time now!

"I'm Kirchy," I said softly. I took a deep breath before answering Denaik's question. "The hunters just took his brother away." I said this in almost a whisper. I cast my gaze down.

"Oh." Was all Denaik said and awkward silence ensued. After a second, he cheered up. "Maybe we can get him back!" He whispered back hopefully to the cub called Kirchy.
Denaik then walked up to the other cub and sat beside him, nuzzling his cheek to comfort him. Koda turned, surprised, and saw Denaik sitting right next to him.
"We'll get your brother back." He said to Koda. "What's your brothers name?"
"Kenai...and my name's Koda." Koda said, feeling his heart lift as Denaik mentioned getting his brother back.

I smiled slightly. "Right. What we need now is a plan." I looked from Koda to Denaik. "Do either of you have an idea?" I was stumped at the moment.

Denaik was the first to speak, Koda still a little confused at the presence of the new bear.
"We'll do a daring rescue! First, we'll follow the hunters and find out where they live and we'll track down Kenai in their camp and then we'll free him and kill the hunters!" Denaik said with triumph and passion.
"Now we just have to follow them. Since they have to carry Kenai with them, I don't think that they're going very fast."

I nodded and stood up. "Right." The killing part made me a bit uneasy. It sounded dangerous. But we had to get Kenai. "Let's go." I took a step in the direction the hunters had gone.

Koda wiped his eyes again, and there was a burning passion behind them. He follow Kirchy, with Denaik bringing up the rear. As the neared the spot where Kenai had been taken, claw marks and blood could be seen. This nearly got Koda again, but he swallowed, gritted his teeth and managed to keep going.
Denaik was surprised at the sullen mood that both cubs seemed to be in. This bear must have meant a lot to Koda...

I walked past the place Kenai had been taken. After a few minutes, I could smell humans nearby. I reluctantly kept going, pushing my fears behind me.

Denaik sniffed the air, the stench of hunters telling him that they weren't far off. He also caught the scent of a bear in their midst. Koda pointed through the branches. "There he is!" He whispered frantically. I saw a rather large bear, not quite an adult yet, but close, but I also saw the hunters. A lot of hunters. No wonder it had been so easy to catch him!

My eyes widened as I looked at all the hunters. How we were ever supposed to get passed them? "What's the plan?" I whispered.
