OOC: Introducing Denaik my new org char =D He's a bit unfriendly to strangers though =(
As Denaik:
"Bravo, Bravo! Looks like you caught the little twerp." Out of the clearing came another bear. He was inbetween light and dark brown, with a light brown strip across his left front arm.
"The names Denaik. And that was quite a show you put on. Most enjoyable."
As Kenai:
I embraced Koda, and then I saw another bear coming through the clearing. I didn't recognize him, and I didn't care right now. My main objective was to get out of that tree. I slowly moved down the tree, branch by branch, until I safely touched the ground.
I eyed the other bear, surveying him.
"Hi! My name's Kenai! This is Koda, and that's my mate, Nita."I intentionally left the raccoon out because his name escaped me. "What's yours?"
He looked at me in annoyance.
"I already introduced myself. Why don't you ask one of your friends?"
"Uhhh, Nita? Who is this guy?" I stepped back and whispered to her.

Nita has noticed the new bear's arrival, but she doesn't turn her attention from Kenai and Koda until they are safely down from the tree. She's at their side immediately, giving each a quick nuzzle before turning to look at the stranger.
"He said his name's Denaik," she whispers back to Kenai. Now that she has time to think about it, she doesn't like her first impression of this Denaik.
"I'm sorry we couldn't greet you properly, but you saw that we were a bit distracted," she tells the newcomer somewhat pointedly.
The raccoon has just got his fish away from the squirrels and has settled down (on a different branch) to enjoy his prize at last; during his little squabble he missed Denaik's entrance, so now he watches the four bears below with some confusion. He intends to stay out of this for now, though, and enjoy his dinner.

Denaik:
I noticed that all the other bears, and raccoons for that matter, seemed to be against me. Not wanting to be without friends, I immediately changed my attitude.
"Ya sorry about that...Sometimes I get a little carried away..." I sigh. "Is there any way I can group with you guys? It's my first time traveling alone and I need to get to the salmon run, but I'm lost..." I finished lamely. I looked up expectantly at the three bears.
Kenai:
I listened to all of this with slight apprehension. I looked at the others to see what they were thinking.
"I don't see why not. That is, if noone has any objections..."

Koda stood by waiting for a chance to speak, and it finally arose with "I don't see why not. That is, if noone has any objections...". The cub instantly stepped in.. "He called me a twerp after I could have fallen!" he said in protest.

Nita studies Denaik warily. His request catches her by surprise, as does Kenai's easy acceptance. Koda's objection makes more sense, at least. This leaves Nita in the difficult spot of tie-breaker, and she doesn't know what to do.
"Well..." She may not like him now, but first impressions aren't everything. He probably deserves a chance... "All right," she says slowly. "But on a trial basis. We kick you out if you fail. Fair?"

(Does anyone want to take on Kenai? It's getting kind of hard to do two completely opposite characters.)
Denaik:
"Fair enough." I knew that they probably didn't think the world of me right now, and I was determined to change that around. I started by turning to Koda and saying: "Sorry I called you a twerp. i was just messing around." I smiled at him.
I turned to Kenai. "Thanks for helping me out. So which way is the Salmon Run?"
Kenai looked around and said: "Uhhh...ask Koda, he probably knows."
I look expectantly at Koda.

"Uhhh.. I think it's down stream from here. All we gotta do is follow the flow from here until we find it!" Koda replied cautiously. Who was this new visitor? How long had he been watching them? And what were his intentions? Only time would give an honest answer to any of these questions..

Kenai:
"So it's settled. You can come with us to the salmon run. We had better leave now if we want to get there...uhh...soon." I tried to generalize the time it would take to get there, mainly because I had no idea how far away it was.
"You, Raccoon. Thanks for helping us out. Your welcome to travel with us if you want."
Denaik:
*Silently broods in the back, thinking about recent events."
OOC: I forgot to tell you that Denaik is about 2 years younger than Kenai. That is, I'm assuming Kenai is ~18-19, and Denaik is ~16-17

The raccoon, polishing off his fish, looks at Kenai in surprise. An invitation? He hadn't expected that. He'd already decided to follow these bears to that salmon thing, but he thought he'd half to do it in secret -- that could have been problematic. This makes everything so much easier.
He doesn't want to look desperate, though. "Aw, it was nothin'," he says casually. He tosses some fish bones over his shoulder, in the general direction of the river, dusts off his paws and begins climbing down the tree. "I might take you up on your offer; I could use a vacation anyway."
Yeah, a "vacation"...preferably to somewhere far away from here, where he can lay low for a while. Who'd look for him in a gathering of bears?
The fish bones remind Nita of what they were doing before Koda climbed that tree. "We should finish breakfast before we go," she reminds Kenai. "We need our energy for this, especially you."
She looks at Denaik, who seems to be thinking about something. He doesn't look happy. With cautious politeness, she asks, "Do you want anything to eat?"

Denaik:
"What? No. Erm, that is, no thank you, ma'am." I attempt to smile at Nita, but it falters, and I hope she doesn't pick up it on. I had no desire to discuss my past with total strangers.
"I already ate some before I got here." I climb up a tree and gaze at nothing in particular, waiting for the others to finish breakfast so we could leave.
Kenai:
"Fine, fine..." I grab a fish and start smacking on it. I wasn't all that hungry anymore, still a little shaken by Koda's incident. While eating it, I thought about the Salmon run. It had seemed like forever since I been there, and Nita hadn't been there before. I was eager to get going.
"Ok, I'm finished. Is everyone else done?"

Nita finishes her own fish quickly, since Kenai is in such a hurry. The berries lie forgotten beside a tree, so the raccoon sneaks a few while the bears are preoccupied with their fish; the sneaking is more for practice than any real need for caution this time.
"I'm ready," Nita replies, looking from Kenai to the rest of their growing party.
"Any time," says the raccoon, surreptitiously washing berry-stained paws. He realizes he's in for a long day, traveling when he should be asleep, but his schedule is already a little off from yesterday; he slept in several hours last night.

Denaik:
*Finally!* I thought. I had been waiting for the others to be ready. I hopped down from the tree and say, "Ready and waiting!" I stretch, and look down at Koda.
"You ready, kid?"
Kenai:
I start to head downstream, looking back to check and see if the others were following me. This salmon run be would the best ever!

Nita walks beside Kenai, and the raccoon hurries to the front of the line and off to one side, trying to keep as much distance as possible between himself and Denaik. He doesn't fully trust any of these bears yet, but he feels safer with the ones he met first -- even though they happen to be the ones who have chewed on and tackled him in the past twenty-four hours. At least he knows what to expect from them.
As he passes Koda, he pauses to see how the cub is doing. He feels a little guilty about the tree incident, in spite of himself -- he still thinks it was Koda's fault for interfering. The masked bandit, the way of the woods, and all that. Quiet and a little wary, he asks, "You okay, kid?"

Koda:
"Ya, I'm fine. Just a little shaken up. And don't call me kid. My name's Koda." He looked up at the raccoon. "You never told us your name."
Kenai:
I wish I hadn't eaten that fish so fast...My stomach was unstable and I felt somewhat nauseous now. I walked with my head down, focusing on not being sick. Nita walked up beside me and I nuzzled her.
"You're going to love the salmon run." I proceeded to tell Nita all the things that we had talked about my first salmon run, though I left the part about Koda's mom. She didn't need to know that.
Denaik:
Absorbed in my thoughts, I failed to notice that everyone was ahead of me and I was slightly lagging behind. I was glad they had accepted me, but I wasn't sure how they would feel if I walked up and joined them. I saw the older male, Kenai was his name, I believe, nuzzle the female and I felt really left out. Even the younger bear and raccoon seemed to be getting along. I sighed, kept my head down and continued to lag behind...

"Ah -- right." The raccoon looks a little self-conscious, scratching behind an ear as he thinks. He's been deliberately avoiding the subject of names. "You can call me Footpad." It probably sounds strange; it's really more an occupation than a name, but it'll do. With a weak chuckle, he adds, "I also answer to 'hey, you'."
---
Nita listens to Kenai's stories of the salmon run with interest, laughing at some parts. She's eager to see this place she's heard about, the event that brought Kenai and Koda together. It'll be good to socialize with other bears; at times it's been hard for her to get used to this mostly solitary lifestyle.
The thought of other bears reminds her of Denaik, and she glances back to see him lagging behind, his head low. This makes her feel a little guilty; maybe they got off on the wrong foot, and they should try a little harder to make him feel welcome. She decides to give it a shot.
"So, Denaik...is this your first salmon run, too?" She speaks loudly to make sure he can hear her back there.
