Truth be told I don't really have much interest of seeing it really. I already have it on Special Edition dvd plus my original VHS tape of it. So, yeah. But, it is cool to see them release it again to theatres. Cause, Lion King is a true Disney classic for sure.

Finally got to see it and lvoed it! The shot of Scar lunges at Simba in the battle was the best, buit the scene with Zazu flying in was cool too. (Some of the sound seemed off though, and the effect seemed to have trouble if it was vibrating). For those interested in how Disney did it, you can see here: www.disneyanimation.com/library/2D3DConversion.pdfand here: www.disneyanimation.com/library/medialAxisStereo.pdfAnd for Don Hahn's comments, see here: d23.disney.go.com/news/2011/09/qa-with-don-hahn/Well, Disney did do a similar move before: in 2002 and 2003, they released Beauty and the Beast and Lion King to IMAX releases. Those were the last two, with no more seen. It's succesful money wise: it's currently number one movie in America. (Lion King took 9 months total ^^). Of course, I'm not sure if they'll do more (they did show Beauty and the Beast in 3d, but only in California). Still I think the two week approach is a wise choice, as well as using 3d (since, unlike IMAX, all theatres can show it). I think Tarzan and Rescuers down under would be the cool to see in 3d, and of course I'd love to see Brother Bear.

(Some of the sound seemed off though, and the effect seemed to have trouble if it was vibrating). I noticed some problems with the sound, too; I'd thought it was just my theater. It sounded like the rear speakers were off, so moments like Timon and Pumbaa's entrance were muted or muffled. Those PDFs are very interesting, thanks for sharing! I was wondering how they did it. (I feel like I should have thought of depth maps... ^^ I didn't realize they were doing Beauty and the Beast, too; that sounds promising! Maybe this will catch on. You're right, Tarzan and The Rescuers Down Under would both be particularly impressive with the 3D treatment. ;D

LOL! It sounds like to me we ALL want the best Disney classics to be send into a real theater and be put into 3D. I wanna know what Treasure Planet and The Emperor's New Groove would be like if they were re-released for a limited time in 3D ;D

I had wondered if it was my theater too. ^^ They had said they remastered the sound too. ^^ Heh no problem! Disney has a lot of PDFs about their work here: www.disneyanimation.com/library/list.html(that's where I found it from). Unfortunately though, while Beauty and the Beast in 3D was shown in theaters, it was only shown in Disney's El Capitan Theatre in California: www.facebook.com/ElCapitanTheatre (reply at September 12 at 2:32pm) and here: twitter.com/#!/ElCapitanThtre I hope they don't remake them in 3D but then only shown it at El Capitan again. ^^ Treasure Planet would be cool to see in 3D. ^^ Edit: Forgot to post the link. Sorry about that.

From what I remember I have never seen The Lion King at all...aside from of course when I was little.
