Hello there everyone. *EDIT* I just realized the original link I had posted was the wrong one. I've corrected it now; this test includes a disclaimer that not all the results are 100% accurate and is less harsh than the other one. Has anyone heard of a "Mary Sue?" Basicially, a Mary Sue is an unrealistic fan-character that is often: perfect (they usually have no flaws), exaggerated superiority to the other characters, unusual talents, and many similarities to the canon characters. In short, Mary Sues are the banes of both the fanfiction/RPer (Mary Sues pop up unintentionaly and waste the creator's talents) and readers/fellow RPers (few like the characters and some may wrongly assume it shows the creator is untalented). That is why I suggest that everyone should this Litmus Test: http:/www.ponylandpress.com/ms-test.html . It is one of the best ones I've come across; I can also say that after taking this I think that some of my early Balto fan-characters were mary Sues (which is perhaps why I lost interest in them). More information about Mary Sues can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_SueLive long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

*EDIT* I'll probably take it in a little bit. I'll post my results after I'm done.

Remember though, for those who do take the test, that the results may or may not be 100% accurate. EP's a borderline Sue at 27; cutting it close, but still not quite a Sue. I was suprised; I had thought he would be a complete Mary Sue.* -EbonyPatriot *Yes, the term can be applied to male characters too.

I'm not sure this test is good for your motivation. My characters sound all like mary sues with their elemental powers now I think about it. I don't think I'm going to do this now. It could make you feel bad *edit* Okay I took the test with my character Gizmo. He got 24 points. Borderline-Sue. Your character is cutting it close, and you may want to work on the details a bit, but you're well on your way to having a lovely original character. Good work Well, I think that's good. But think this guys. It's really hard to think of an original character. But I'm glad my character is not a complete MS. Although I fear Frank and Mohegan are

Do not forget to read the disclaimer. It states:
So it pretty much states there that this test is not 100% accurate, so you shouldn't take any bad scores you get personally or as an insult. The test is not meant to put you down or anything.

Here's what I think. This test is basically saying that if your character has any traits or qualities at all, it's a mary sue.
Edit: But then again, I shouldn't be sad. Uber Sue does sound pretty cool...

I read the disclaimer. But I still think it's really difficult to creat an original person.

Jotah, the test is *not* saying that. It might be what you think, but it's not true.

Mohegan- It is a hard task. That's why this test is here as a tool, to help you avoid creating a Mary Sue, which as I said, are the banes of both the fanfiction/RPer (Mary Sues pop up unintentionaly and waste the creator's talents) and readers/fellow RPers (few like the characters and some may wrongly assume it shows the creator is untalented0.
Jotah- What the test is saying is, to quote Wikipedia, you likely have a mary Sue if you have:
What's more, as both DarkHououmon and I have said, the had a disclaimer that its results may or may not be accurate.

Yeah, which means the test is saying that, just because your character scores high, it doesn't mean it's a Mary Sue.

Yeah. You could say Jotah was an accidental creation. I drew him by accident, and decided to make him a character.
