Last night I came home to quite the reception:
I closed last night, and because of how slow it was we got everything finished by 25 to 12:00 and got to go home early. I'm so glad we did. Even though I had gotten off early, I still wanted to get home soon, so I took the shortcut down the back ally instead of the long way along the highway. I was watching straight ahead when I saw a figure in the ally. I was too far away to tell, but I automatically thought of one thing... Coyote. I have come upon a lone coyote in our allyway a while ago coming home from a close, but thankfully it was moving away from me and my house. I was startled by the animal, but I continued to walk. Suddenly another shape came out of the yard and into the ally, and then another. My heart started pounding like crazy, not one but three coyotes were between me and my door! Then there came yet another. I started walking again, thinking maybe I'd be lucky enough to squeeze past them through the empty lot on the other side of the ally.
As I got closer I suddenly realized they were not coyotes but deer! I didn't want to startle them, so I kept to my course and skirted them by means of the empty lot. As I went passed I noticed more coming out of my yard. There were nine in total. I was within ten or so feet of them going on to my driveway and noticed that they were somewhat smaller and had thicker fur than the deer we usually see around here. That must be how I mistook them for coyotes for a distance. I quickly got inside and awoke my brother. While waiting for him I went out with our youngest cat, Stanley, in my arms. He looked around a bit and then saw the deer. He jumped and squirmed in my arms to get a better look. My brother came out with his camera, but they were already starting to leave. He got a few shots, but we're not sure if they'll turn out. When we came inside Matt went back to bed and I sat down to watch a bit of tv. Stanley kept on giving the door weird looks, in between wandering around the house, ears flying everywhere. At one point he got up on his hind legs the way a meerkat does.
After my show was over I came into my room and went onto my computer. As I was typing away I heard a noise and going outside I found another two deer going down the ally, these two slightly larger than the last.
