Name: Tyonek.
Meaning: Actually, it's a town in Alaska.
Species: Barren ground Caribou.
Scientific name: Rangifer tarandus
Gender: Male.
Age: Four years old.
Voice (if this were a movie): William Dafoe.
Personality: Tough and very much a don't-mess-with-me rough guy, Tyonek is never-the-less the best leader of Caribou ever known- this stag is confident, decisive, wise, loyal, just, and caring. He has a sense of humor, however, and is surprisingly relaxed about the "Eat or be Eaten" motto of the surrounding carnivores. Tyonek is truly a stag worth knowing.
Bio: Tyonek grew up in Balto's time and lead the Great War against the British foes. His right foreleg was almost completely severed by a griffin (but that's another story
); so he limps. He led the herd at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for a while, until he was well enough to be released here in Brother Bear Land. Tyonek now wanders around BB Land, sometimes leading a herd, sometimes not; he'll always show up near his friend EbonyPatriot's side when danger threatens.
Description: Tyonek is six feet high at the shoulder (tall for a caribou) and eight feet from nose to tail. His broad, cloven, black, spongy hooves contrast with his white 'feathering' and socks. His body is that of the perfect, tall, lengthy caribou, framed with shaggy hair. His fur is chrome colored (save for his snowy neck- and even that has silver coloring on the spinal cord) with foamy undersides. Tyonek's antlers are over three-and-a-half feet high and his liquid eyes are dark and curious.
NOTE: The proper term in referring to a male Caribou is "bull," and the proper term for a female Caribou is a "cow"; but I prefer (and use) the terms "stag" and "doe (or hind)." Also, Tuque (named after a city in I *think* Alaska) is a young gray stag that is sometimes mentioned, though I doubt I'll ever show him.
