Let's take a moment and go back in time to when Brother Bear 2 was announced, back when we had no information about the sequel, just the knowledge that it was coming. What went through your mind about it? What were you expecting from it? Was there a certain storyline you were expecting? Did you expected something entirely different from the final product?
Personally, I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was going to be something about Kenai getting used to life as a bear, the difficulty of having his life completely changed by his decision and the hardships of what Koda had to go through after losing his mother and having Kenai for a brother. I wasn't really expecting it to be about Kenai being reunited with a childhood friend.
Another idea was that I thought it was going to be rather Lion King 1 1/2-esque, a movie based on Rutt and Tuke with Kenai and Koda as guest stars.
What about you? What were you thinking that the sequel was going to be about?

When I first heard about it? It's hard to remember exactly what I imagined. I suppose something like Kenai and Koda going on a new journey, maybe to help some lost animal? Really, I can't quite recall.

And when I heard the news about making BB2 I thought that probably Disney will make it more disneyish (you know two lost souls meet, something bad happens, and there's always happy end including these two lost souls falling in love in each other), wchich is exacly what happened with BB2... Sequels of great Disney movies are almost always way worse than the oryginal ones...

Sequels of great Disney movies are almost always way worse than the oryginal ones... I guess that sounds reasonable. Most Disney movies end up being about two people meeting each other and falling in love. (Pocahontas 2, Lion King 2). Only rarely will they be of something else (Return to Neverland, Fox & the Hound 2).

I can't remember either. I think romance may have crossed my mind (for the same reason already mentioned), but nothing more specific than that.
I do remember what I imagined after we first learned about Nita. I thought she would be running away from home to avoid an arranged marriage, and wind up running into Kenai along the way -- quite the opposite of what really happened.

Well I didn't get a chance to anticipate it the way you guys did. In fact, I didn't have to anticipate it at all ^^; I watched it right after I watched the first one and loved it almost as much =) Funny thing is, I didn't realize that kenai wasn't kenai in both of the movies until a few weeks later. O.o

You mean the point were he has been changed into an bear? The voice acting which became slightly different?
To be honest, right after BB1 I've been thinking of how the sequel would look like. I hope to find the brother-bond between Koda and Kenai to be stronger than ever before, more hugging and stories etc. I've all-so been thinking of some "love" in the air, which came out.
I surely never expected a person like Nita to be involved, I'd hope to see more storyline of how Kenai is evolving into an bear. Of course you can't throw those hunters out of a sequel, so I thought about some tense moments were Kenai and Koda or perhaps some other members of their Bearish family are escaping, or any other kind of interaction with hunters.
But, but! The real BB2 came out quite good, nope I'm having no problem's with Nita at all. She's just a girl whom fell for Kenai's charms hehe, no but I like her character. About the brother-bond.. hmm, It could have been more, but it's OK.
Modification: Yeah your right, Kenai and Denahi were the only hunters (Atka BB2). I guess I took a too serious point a few too real life in comparrison with Brother Bear. (I'm against hunting on wildlife "bears, deers etc") It's good that there were no villains in BB, and let's keep that in the RP/other fanwork.

The thing is, the only hunters in the first movie were Denahi and Kenai himself. It's always frustrated me that Denahi's persistent attacks in the movie translated into fan works as RPG-style "random encounters" with hunters around every tree. Also, I thought it was important and powerful that the movie didn't have a villain, yet these hunters in fanfiction and RP are almost always true black-and-white, card-carrying villains.

Oh snap, I'm guilty of this! They were kinda plot devices in my Koda's Journey story for Kenai and Koda to get separated and at the end before getting to the Salmon Run (I'm pretty sure I didn't give them a reason to attack other than just plot devices). Though I can assure you I won't do any of the sort with the next story I'm planning.

Oh yes, Kenai's voice actor was different! I watched the second movie first, (That being the one God led me to first, so I also didn't get to muse about the film like most everyone here,) and I actually got used to his second Voice actor. I felt it was more gently, friendly. I didn't pay attention to how different Kenai's voice was when I watched the first movie; I was too excited to think about that! ^_^

I'm trying to remember what I was actually first expecting from the sequel’s plot when they had first announced about a Brother Bear 2 happening, but it doesn't seem to ring a bell to me. All I know is looking back on it at the time, the whole romance thing NEVER had ever crossed my mind at all. I've always thought it would take a different route (like the ones Ken'ichi mention for example) but as he pointed out, it's highly ever rare Disney ever did that in their sequels at all.
