Heh, I don't think this has been posted. ^^ Anywho, here's the meanings behind the BB2 character names. ^^
Innoko (the sha-woman) = a name for the Holikachuk langauge; also a river/ nature reserve in Alaska
Nita= "bear" in Chickasaw
Atka= Alaskan village
Anda (the dark-colored moosette the ends up with Tuke) = perhaps from her voice actress, Andrea Martin.
Kata (the light-colored moosette that ends up with Rutt)= does mean five in Wappo, but perhaps also from her actress, Catherine O'Hara
Siqiniq (Nita's aunt; blue-gray clothes) = "sun" in Inuktitut
Taqqiq (Nita's aunt; reddish clothes) = "moon" in Inukitut
Bering (raccoon leader?) = The name of the strait/ land bridge between Russia and Alaska
Chilkoot (Nita's dad?) = The original name for Kenai's dad
Hoonah (Tug's mate) = ?

I always enjoy finding out the meanings and sources of the characters' names. I didn't know Nita's before; thanks for sharing. This post got me interested in searching around to try to fill in the blanks; here's what I found: Hoonah is apparently the name of a city in Alaska, meaning "village by the cliff" or "place protected from the North Wind" in Tlingit. According to this site that I found while looking for names for my dog character recently, Atka means "guardian spirit". Amusingly, Chilkoot apparently means "basket of many fish". I've always had slightly mixed feelings about the filmmakers reusing Chilkoot as the name of Nita's father; on the one hand, I enjoyed the reference to the original film's development, but on the other hand, I still like to think of the brothers' unseen father as Chilkoot, and would have called him such if the subject ever came up in roleplay or fanfiction. I guess there's no reason they couldn't both be Chilkoot, though. XD

Hoonah reminds me of Dinosaur Wars. That's because it's a word used in Dinosaur Wars as the kra's term for humans.
Now about this thread, is it for strictly RP characters or just characters in general from different fandoms/no fandoms?

Er, I'm not sure what you mean, I'm afraid. ^^ This thread's for the BB2 characters' name origins.
If you mean the "Interview the Characters" thread, I thinking more of the Brother Bear fandom original characters as well as the Brother Bear original characters, if somebody wants them. Like how Epesi's using Savik and Footpad. ^^"

Oh whoops. Sorry. ^^;
When I posted this, I was both tired and feeling sick, and I wasn't paying attention to the location of this topic. I thought it was name character origins in general. ^^;
