thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/specials/33867-disneycember-part-15Wohoo Actually... while I have to disagree on the Phil Collins hate (I'm not a huge fan, but I liked what they did in the movie) I can see where he's coming from with whatever he does like or not. When he started out his review, I was fearing for the worst actually, but... in the end, despite him complaining about a few difficulties I still feel that he really, really likes this movie and hey - he's the Critic, that's supposed to mean something, right? xDDD

Thanks for sharing; without your comments I'm not sure if I would have watched it myself, for fear of what he might say. XD I like the Nostalgia Critic when he's doing lists or reviewing something I'm not emotionally invested in, but I easily get too sensitive when he tears into my favorite movies. Anyway, I did watch it, and I found his take was pretty interesting, fair, and funny at times. I can appreciate when someone has a good point even if I disagree with it at the same time. I'm a little on the fence about some of the modern dialogue and gags he complained about; I agree that a lot of them were awkward and out of place, and yet at the same time I enjoyed them and remember laughing at them in the theater. It's something that I would do differently myself, but I don't feel it disrupts the experience as much as it did for him. The part about the "mystery" of what happened to Koda's mother is interesting, as I never got to experience that properly for myself; I had that plot point spoiled for me by something I read before seeing the movie. I've always been a little frustrated by the fact that I'll never know if I would have figured it out on my own or not. It seems pretty obvious, but I've missed obvious twists before, so it could have gone either way. When a surprise like that is spoiled I always feel cheated, wondering if the reveal would have been more powerful had I not known it was coming. Even if I suspected it, that would have been a different experience from being certain of it. I'm rambling a bit, but I just found it interesting to hear an outside perspective on that moment. I'll have to look into more of his reviews, even though I know some of them will be a lot less favorable than this one; I need to grow a thicker skin, anyway. XD I'm not so sure about the one immediately following this one, though -- I was one of the few people who liked Home on the Range, it seems.

Actually, Disneycember is an "event" where he tried to do mostly "good" reviews, because he really likes Disney, so I suppose you have nothing to fear.
I was personally quite interested in his Mulan review for the same "emotionally involved reason" and I was okay with it. He might have stated that he didn't like Mushu (HOW DARE HE jk), but he argued that it was because he didn't like the Voice Actor choice for him and... hey I got to agree there; I don't like Eddie Murphy as Mushu because I am too grown to the German version. But that's personal preference xD
And... nah, his review on Home on the Ranch was... not so good in that sense xD Not hateful, but not positive. So unless you're really curious, you should probably skipt it.
The twist with Koda's Mom - I didn't see it coming. Of course if you put thought to it, it is obvious, but at the time I saw this movie the first time I was 14 and not into "analyzing" stuff. It caught me probably because at some point I was simply absorbed in the movie. And it caught me again when I bought the DVD. But since then I've been watching this movie so often that I have grown cold to the situation and that irritates me :/

HA! I knew he was going to review Brother Bear sooner or later. I even told it to Night Bear myself too when we were chatting about it on MSN.
And I did actually watch his review on it the other night, along with all of the other disney movies he's make his critics on (I personally do have to agree with his take on Home on the Range. It was just too....corny.)
His personal POV of on BB sorta had me confused. He does mention that he was going to expect some out of it, but then he makes a scene out of the Phil Collins music. I don't think complaining about a singer you don't like shouldn't ruin the film for you. What I did like about is the modern dialogue he does point out. I have no problem with that being taken place to a movie where it's all about spirits, indians, nature and animals, but when it comes to making films, of course SOME modern dialogue is gonna pop out when you hear it.
But he makes an excellent spotting good point on Koda's mother. I don't believe any of us could see that coming when the movie was still new back in 2003. And then of course you get the other brother whose trying to kill the brother he thought was dead because his own brother went on revenge for his eldest brother (god he made it sound so complicated by describing that into the video XDD) Yeah we all get that makes it a great big misunderstanding, so this is why Brother Bear is one of those few movies that doesn't have a villian in it. And who needs that? The sequel didn't have a bad guy in it. (unless you count in Nita's ex-fiance who try to kill Kenai.)
