Don't overestimate the PS3. Remember, extreme graphics and processor are not the most important factors in a game. It's originality, enjoyability, how well the story is, etc. You can have a game with terrific graphics and speed, but if the game itself doesn't have a great story to go along with it, it won't do so well in sales.
While I would want one sometime in the future, currently I have my eyes set on the X-Box 360.
Oh, btw, it was not necessary to delete your post. You could have just modified it.

Whoa whoa whoa, back up back up. Where did you heard the Wii was dropping in sales? Last I check the Wii was selling like hotcakes and it STILL is, I haven't heard NOTHING about its sales dropping. In fact, it's estimated the Wii is still going to sell strong even in 2008. The PS3 never got a price drop in my opinion since they stopped production of the version it price dropped and threw out another version with the same $600 pricetag. Hardly a price drop if they stopped production of the one it HAD the price drop in the first place.
And I agree the Wii isn't next-gen, it's been repeatedly stated it's new-gen since it's in a league all of its own and not a direct competitor against the PS3 and Xbox 360.
And Wii games looking like PS2 games? The Wii is much more powerful than the Ps2 and Wii games looks AT LEAST Gamecube graphics which are BETTER than the PS2's. Have you seen Super Mario Galaxy footage? That game looks like an Xbox 360 game.
And the Wii has nothing inside it? Last I checked you have a Weather Channel, a Mii Channel, News Channel and of course the popular Virtual Console that lets you download and play NES, SNES, N64, Sega AND Turbograx games, so don't say the Wii has nothing inside.
Don't underestimate what the Nintendo Wii can do. It's just starting out and it already has some awesome games coming out.

im not Mario isn't a hard core game and yes the sales have dropped slightly and the wii on a hardware level is the same as the ps2 with a slightly better grfx card since its a gddr3 card it kinda pathetic considering what a gddr3 card should be able to do. also yes the 600USD ps3 did drop to 500 and a 80 gig is replacing the older 600UDS the only difference in the two is a bigger hdd which you can upgrade your self to 200 and something gigs. and nothing inside refers to the hardware not jest the network ability's and last i checked you cant dl movies to wii. but rember wile gaming you can now get a work out lol

A game doesn't have to be hardcore to be fun and entertaining, even casual games are fun. But I don't believe in the hardcore/casual labels, if I enjoy the game then that's it. I haven't read anything about the Wii dropping in sales, could you provide me a link to an article that says so? If this news came from a Microsoft or Sony representative I don't want to hear it. Companies clash against each other's products all the time to boost their own sales.
Wii's hardware levels the same as the PS2? I'm afraid you're wrong there. The Gamecube is better than the PS2 in hardware levels and the Wii is powerful than the Gamecube even if slightly. I don't want to sound rude but you gotta get your facts straight. Anyway I could care less about the hardware inside. The Wii satisfies me with what it has and it's all I need. I could care less about realistic graphics if the game is fun to play.
And I don't really care downloading movies to the Wii. In my opinion it's pretty worthless and I can do the same on the PC and have better results there. In my opinion the extra bells and whistles to the consoles is kind of pointless. I already have a DVD player, a computer to go online and play other kinds of games. I want a gaming console, not a multimedia center.
And so what if I can work out while playing the Wii? That's great. More opportunity to work out and get in shape. More interactivity with the game, meaning more fun.
But I digress, I would like to change the topic. I'm not fond of arguments and debates. They tend to break out into fights.

I also don't believe in casual/hardcore gaming. To me there is really no such thing. Games are supposed to be for fun, although tend to target different audiences. If a game is enjoyable, than that's all that really matters. The Wii is a more recent console, and therefore would have a more advanced hardware level than the older PS2. And I have read the Gamecube hardware stats as well as PS2, and it has a faster RAM and faster processor, probably due to its smaller more compact size. But yes, let's not turn this into a debate. I have to agree with what Keni said earlier. I don't believe the video game age is dying.

no i never take this beyond a debate. i have debates all the time around school trust me no temper leaves this post honest.
and i separate hard core by blood and guts gore that kinda thing isnt made for everyone
but i still see the wii is going to loose out in the long run to the 360 and the ps3 because of hardware

It could be possible, we never know what the future holds. But the PS2 has proven that reason wrong since it was the weakest in hardware and it came out on top.
It all depends on the games. And let's enjoy them while we have them.

I think that was mostly on the hype of Halo that brought it up. It has such a huge fan-base that brought in the sales. I don't think graphics or hardware mattered much in the long run.
