The yawning seems to be contagious, and Nita can't fight it. After a long day and a good meal, nothing could be better than to sleep out here, surrounded by beauty. But much as she'd like to stay right here, she remembers that Koda is alone somewhere -- wherever Kenai left him.
"Well," she says to him, "are you ready to turn in?"
Footpad is still gnawing on the remains of his fish, turning it in his paws in that odd washing motion. He's watching Kenai and Nita now, waiting to see where they plan to spend the night so he can stay nearby.

OOC: Ok, and I'll go ahead and introduce my herd. With the way the time frame is going perhaps this is the night before the day everything happens or something? Not that they can't get lost at night if you want.
From up front in the herd of mammoths moving through the area, Miko, the newly appointed leader of the herd, due to being the late matriarch's oldest, glanced back to make sure his younger siblings, the seven year old twins, Lylo and Lilik, were still within sight. The pair were darting about chasing each other through the herd but still with the herd, so Miko turned forward with a smile.
"For the last time, stay still" Lylo chuckled, trying to catch his twin sister in the game of tag the two were playing. Darting behind another herd member, Lilik giggled and peeked out at her brother, "Not my fault you're too slow to catch me" she said, not unkindly, but just in sibling competitiveness. A few of the females within the herd bit their tongues on chiding the small female calf, Lilik, for her behavior since as the matriarch's oldest girl they expected better behavior out of her. In truth, Miko was only leading the herd until the day little Lilik was old enough to do such herself, since the herd still held with the view that things were at their 'most right' when a female matriarch was in charge of the herd. For now though, Miko was doing a fine job, even if he was new to it and a bit unsure. Watching the twins he could do, and had done for all seven of their years, but watching both them and the herd was a new challenge.
He glanced across the night landscape lite only by the moon as he searched for a safe enough field to accomidate the herd for the night

OOC: I think I'm going to change Denaik's name to Koedi =3 Hope this doesn't confuse anyone ><
BIC:
"Most definitely." Kenai says as he yawns yet again. "The cave is back that way. All of you are welcome to join us." Kenai smiles tiredly as he nuzzles Nita affectionately and starts walking back toward the cave. Koedi (formerly Denaik) shakes his head to keep from falling asleep as he hears Kénai mention the cave, and tiredly bumbles along behind them.

OOC: Just to get things moving, hope you guys don't mind ><
BIC:
Kenai awoke to giggling and murmuring whispers but kept his eyes closed, trying to figure out what was going on.
"Do it! ....Go on!" More giggling. "Hurry up before he wakes up!" It was Koedi and it sounded like he was urging somebody to do something before someone else --
"GAHHH!!" Kenai jumped up and yelled at the top of his lungs as Koda dumped an armful of creepy-crawly things all over his body, squirming and yelping, waking everybody in the cave up with his shouts and roars. Koda and Koedi were over in the corner clutching their sides and laughing hysterically, congratulating themselves on a job well done as Kenai tripped and fell over on his face, having finally gotten the last of the gross things off of him.
OOC2: Like I said, just a nudge in the direction of getting the RP moving again ^^; I can always delete this post if noone likes it.

OOC: I don't mind; I thought that was a good point to move on, but I wasn't sure whether to do it myself. ^^
BIC:
"What? What!" Nita bolts up, wide-eyed with alarm, having woken abruptly in a state of confusion. She stares at Kenai, but before she can absorb the situation, something dark and shiny and crawly lands on her nose. She screams, stumbles backward and swats the thing away, almost all at once.
She sits for a few moments, breathing deeply and collecting herself. Her heart is racing and she's trying not to shake like a leaf. Of course, she's wide awake now, so now she can work out what happened -- really, the laughter tells her all she needs to know. She gives the pranksters a dirty look, but it's all in fun -- anyway, there will be plenty of time for revenge. "Well, good morning to you, too."
"So I take it nobody's actually gettin' killed down here?" Footpad stands in the cave mouth, looking ruffled. "Yeah, just thought I'd check, 'cause that's what it sounded like. Geeze, I nearly fell outta my tree..."

"So I take it nobody's actually gettin' killed down here?" Footpad stands in the cave mouth, looking ruffled. "Yeah, just thought I'd check, 'cause that's what it sounded like. Geeze, I nearly fell outta my tree..."
A large shape over shadows the small raccoon standing at entrance as it engulfs most of the opening with it's bulk. An obviously groggy Tug stands right behind the raccoon, His eyes slightly bloodshot with a look of worry on his face. Tentatively, Hoonah pokes her worried face out from behind her husband's bulk too. "What, in the world, are you young bears doing in here!?!" says the Big bear slightly nerve wracked.
OOC: sorry for the late response ^^;

Meanwhile, another young Mammoth was having sibling issues this morning. "Ly-lo" a young voice sang out, "ya gotta get up, we're moving". Lylo squeezed his eyes shut even more as his twin sister peered at him to see if she was waking him up.
"Just a few more minutes" he said. "Sorry, not explaining my younger brother making the herd late" another, older voice said and Lylo suddenly found himself hauled up by his back feet and then set back down. Stumbling about to stand on the three feet he had, he looked back and noticed Miko now releasing his foot he'd grabbed.
"Alright fine" he grumbled, "I'm up, I'm up!". The herd, although lead by Miko now, was able to begin to move off without all of his help and Miko now just moved up front to continue leading them.
Lilik giggled, "Come on" she trotted off to where the major bulk of the herd was. With a sigh, Lylo followed after her. He was soon awake, though, and darting this way and that, trying to start up a game once more.

OOC: Should Atka be following the herd just yet? =3 Not sure, correct me if I'm wrong ^^;
BIC:
"IT WAS HIM!" Said the cub and the slightly older cub, each pointing at the other in answer to Tug's demanding question. Then they both broke out into laughter again as Kenai growled, picking himself off the floor and still glaring at the two delinquents. Finally, he manages to bring himself to a sitting position, double checking to make sure that all things creepy and crawly had been removed from anywhere within 10 feet of him.
Koda clears his throat to get the attention of everyone. Not that it wasn't already all on him and Koedi.
"I have an announcement to make." He grins, looking at Kenai. "TAG, you're it!" He pounces forward and touches his paw to Kenai's before dashing off as fast as his little legs could take him, a bewildered look overtaking Kenai's face. He shook his head as if to clear it, then grinned and poked Nita.
"TAG, you're it!" He dashes off after the cub, now in a good mood, forgetting about the prank for now, but still plotting his revenge.

OOC: Yeah, he's tracking the herd now, I guess.
BIC:
Footpad trails off in the middle of his griping, a look of dread on his face as the shadow falls over him. He freezes, afraid to turn around, until Tug's rumbling voice jolts him out of his trance, sending him scrambling for cover behind Nita.
"Morning, Tug. Er, did we wake you?" asks Nita sheepishly. Silly question. "I'm so sorry..." Because at least one of us should be. She shoots another look at the culprits, but before she can continue, Koda makes his "announcement".
"TAG, you're it!"
Nita splutters, staring after Kenai. She's rather annoyed at the boys for being so inconsiderate, not even saying sorry before running off to play; it's left her in an awkward spot. And yet... She hurries after the boys, grinning apologetically at Tug and Hoonah as she squeezes past them, speaking in a rush. "Like I said, I'm really sorry, and I'm sure they're sorry too. Or they will be!" Now free from the cave, she takes off running. Laughing, she shouts at Kenai, "That wasn't fair!"
And just like that, Footpad is alone with Tug and Hoonah. At best, it's an awkward social situation -- at worst, he's trapped in a cave, his exit blocked by a couple of behemoth grizzlies. Footpad decides to be optimistic.
"So..." he laughs nervously, fiddling with his paws. "Sleep well last night? Me, I was beat, so I slept like a cub. A hibernating cub. In...winter."
---
Some miles away, a small troop of hunters walk in silence. They've been walking since dawn; they've been following mammoth tracks for days.
Atka leads the group, and the silence is for his benefit. There are many troubles on his mind, but he's trying to focus on the ones related to this hunt; he runs over strategies and formations again and again. Staying focused is hard; there's a bird chattering annoyingly loud nearby. There's always something.
They're getting close; all the men realize it. The hardest part will begin soon.

"Does anyone else hear that?" Lilik asked as the herd plodded along for the most part, and she and Lylo trotted along. It sounded like a bird chattering worriedly over something, but she could tell they were just a bit too far to make out the words yet.
"Oh birds are always chattering dear" one of the females of the herd tells her. Lilik shrugs and continues along.
Meanwhile, Lylo catches sighed of a pine nut over on the ground and trots over to begin batting it about, laughing. "Hey Lilik, come over here so I can hit you with my new found plaything!" he calls. His sister just frowns.
"Lylo! how many times do I have to tell you, get back over here in between the safety of the herd!" Miko calls. Lylo sighs, "Oh come on I'm just playing!". He kicks the nut over nearer the herd and trots over, determined to keep his new toy with him.
Miko shakes his head and continues on leading the herd.

Koedi sits and watches, grinning widely as the three run off. Then he realizes that they ran off and hurries to follow them, gesturing at Tug and Hoonah to follow him, yelling at the others to wait up.
Meanwhile, Kenai and Koda don't hear him, having both climbed up a tree in hopes to throw off their pursuer. Kenai clamps a paw over Koda's mouth to keep him quiet, whispering "Shhh!". Koda finally settles down as they see Nita approaching.
Giggling, he whispers back, "She'll never think to use her nose!"

Tug sighs as the four younger bears shoot past him and hears the raccoon know as Footpad said "So..." he laughs nervously, fiddling with his paws. "Sleep well last night? Me, I was beat, so I slept like a cub. A hibernating cub. In...winter." The big bear couldn't help but start to laugh as he heard that last part and relieves much of the tension he had built up from hearing the screams so short ago.
Still chuckling Tug replied "I bet, you came a long way with those four" He gets a lovingly, but exasperated look on his face "Ah... to be young." He looks at the raccoon more earnestly and notices that despite his calm talk, he looked slightly on edge around him and his wife. Before he can ask, Hoonah asks the little raccoon inquisitively "So what brings you to the salmon run?"
OCC: I know Hoonah has been sort of quiet this whole time =X, so if anyone wants to role-play her feel free to take over =3

OOC: Oh, dear...I'm really sorry for not posting. I feel I've let you guys down. It started as indecision over what to write, and then a few things came up, and it was kind of a vicious circle of procrastination. If the rest of you still want to continue, I'm here. If not, I understand, and I'm sorry again. If we're continuing, I'll post as Atka; as for Hoonah, she is sort of a background character anyway, but if nobody wants her, I could give her a try. BIC: Footpad scratches an ear as he thinks quickly, trying to come up with a believable answer on the spot. "It's...sort of a vacation. You know, a little change of scenery, relaxation...it was kind of a spontaneous thing. I ran into those bears, and heard they were going to the Salmon Run, and I thought, y'know, I'll try that." Not wanting to remain the subject of conversation, he turns it around quickly. "So, what about you? You come here every year?"
---
Nita stops running when she realizes she can't hear the others anymore. With their head start they were always just out of her sight, but she could still hear them running. Could they really be that much faster? It's either that, or...she sighs in frustration. Nobody said anything about hide-and-seek.
She looks around for potential hiding spots -- of course, they're everywhere. At least they can't be too far away, but before she sets off wandering, Nita wants to be sure she can find her way back. She looks up for a landmark, like a glimpse of the mountain through the trees; she scans right over them, then does a double-take, her surprised expression turning to a smirk.
"I see you, Kenai," she says in a singsong rhythm.
