Ohhhh! another CG movie!!!! Oh well, it makes up for it in the story, Graham Greene, and that the Backstreet Boys are doing the music.

In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with CG movies, but I strongly dislike it when people say "traditional animation is dead / not as good as CG."

I've Never Cry Wolf -excellent book; never saw the movie though. I've heard about spirit/kermode bears. Beautiful beasts. So does this movie feature talking bears eh? Aye Nikiski, that's my view on CGI too- it's wonderful, but traditional animation is great too. They are not better than the other, just different. And here's something I've never seen (it's Candanian). Anywho, it a T.V. series called Silverwing based upon the book series by Kenneth Oppel about a young bat named Shade. Anywho, there's a kermode bear named Ursa. She alleys with the bats in the war between the beasts and the birds. Ursa takes in a little black bear cub. The bad guy is an evil wolf named Luger. Live long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

It's not that I don't like CG, I just prefer traditional. And with the way things are going now at Disney, I'd rather do all I can to support traditional (ie., refraining from going to see CG movies)

Well, I've found a book series pretty similar to BB:
THE FIRST AMERICANS It's done by William Sarabande.
(STORY SUMMARY OF THE FIRST BOOK)
Its set in the time before the Inuit came to Alaska, while they were still in Siberia. A tribe, called 'The People', are nearly wiped out when a wild mammoth kills everyone except for Torka (20 years old), Umak (40 years old and grandfather to Torka), Brother Dog (saved Umak) and Lonit (12 years old, has antelope shaped eyes). They decide to travel away from the camp, and Torka lost his 5 year old son, newborn daughter and 18 year old wife.
They travel until they reach a mountain, and while living there, they find Karana, a boy abandoned by his people. He was left alone to raise the other children, and they all died, save him. Before they found Karana, Lonit became pregnant with Torka's child. When they learned of other people, they become excited and believe they'll be part of a band. Lonit, however feels resentment due to the fact Torka might find a woman more beautiful than her.
Another band comes to the small camp, with Galeena as their leader. Several conflicts later, they small group, as well as Iana and her husband and an elder woman impregnanted by Umak, leave the mountain before it collapsed. Soon after Iana has a baby, a tribe called the Ghost men kill Umak and Iana's husband, along with the elder woman, they steal Karana, Lonit and Iana. Torka, meanwhile was hunting and returned, only to find his friends dead and his grandfather almost dead.
Iana's baby gets killed by Gulap, the headmans sister and bearer of his sons. Lonit is in labor, and gives birth to a girl. The baby was originaly to be killed, but Torka found Karana's band, and they were able to kill the Ghost Men. Karana's father is Supnah, the headman, and Navahk is his uncle, a magic man. Towards the end of the first novel, the mammoth was later named Life Giver because it spared Torka's and Karana's life. And, to make the novel even more weird, Karana's father is actually Navahk.
The novel has sex scenes in it, so you should probably be over 15 (they're not that bad) Well, that was quite long. If its too long, I might remove it.

Hey, easy on the spoilers, Naluna. I had to stop reading in case I want to check those books out. I'm with Niki and EP, when it comes to CG. It's not a matter of which is better. They're so different that you can't compare them that way. Look at stop-motion animation, for example. Anyway, a while back, at the library, while checking out A Transformation Tale, I discovered this book: Touching Spirit Bear, by Ben Mikaelsen. "After his anger erupts into violence, Cole, in order to avoid going to prison, agrees to participate in a sentencing alternative based on the native American Circle Justice, and he is sent to a remote Alaskan Island where an encounter with a huge Spirit Bear changes his life." I haven't actually read it yet, but I would like to. Too bad the jacket description (not the one I posted here) gave away a bit more than I would have liked to know without reading the book itself.

I haven't read the last two books either, although I have heard of Touching Spirit Bear. Are there any beasties in that book you mentioned Naluna? Er this book (one of the oldest) is also not for cubs (although I haven't read it myself). It's written by Lucius Apuleius and it's called (er, I'm not sure if Spectrum would considere it since it's referring to the animal but just just to be safe ... insert the old word for donkey in the ____ space. It's called The Golden ___. Anywho, it's a bout the man named named Lucius who, late one night, watches his as his woman's mistress drink a potion and turns into an owl. He feels the desire to do the same; and she gives him one ione of her mistress's potions. Unfortuntly, it transforms Lucius into a donkey. In order to turn back, Lucius has to eat some roses. he wanders around, seeing how silly humans are, before he is finally turned back into a man. Once again I repeat, it's not for cubs. Gentle Ben, however, IS cub-friendly. It's about a boy in Alaska who befriends a HUGE gentle grizzly named Ben. He buys Ben off of the bear's cruel owner; but his father doesn't agree with the situation at all... And yes, this is the book that the TV series "Gentle Ben" was based on, only in the show Ben is a black bear, they're in Florida, etc. Live long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

Have I not mentioned The Sight here? It is a cool book about wolves. You can find it on amazon and you can't miss it since it has a pair of yellow wolf eyes staring at ya on the cover.

I don't know why I didn't mention these movies before! I actually own these on DVD! It just slipped my mind! Anyway, since IMDb.com doesn't offer sensible enough insight into these movies. I'll describe them in my own words. They are:
~The Little Polar Bear~ Foreign Animated film directed towards the ages of young children. But can also be enjoyed by adults with an open mind. It is about the adventure of a young polar bear named Lars (Yes, I know I ripped off that character in my story. But that's the only one! I swear!) There is an eskimo girl and her shaman grandmother who help Lars forsee the enemy which threathens to rid off all the fish for everyone to eat. This film is not as high impact as Brother Bear, but it is a decent and fun movie for the family.
~The Polar Bear King~ Foreign Live action film with low budget film effects and costumes. The movie is about this King. He is confronted by a witch that demands that the king marry her, but he refuses, so the witch transforms him into a Polar bear with a cheesy -duck below the camera and *poof* rise from a puff of smoke as a polar bear (A Guy in lame polar bear suit)- sequence. The only way to lift the curse is for someone to fall in love with the king, but the witch just taunts him since she claims that no one could love such a dangerous and vicious creature. This movie is endearing but not highly recommended
~The Country Bears~ Disney did this one. Talking, walking, working, singing, anthro bears living casual, everyday lives in the real world! Now wouldn't that be awesome! I would certainly like to see that kind of thing happen with all kinds of animals! Imagine an anthro cow buying a gallon of milk! Or an anthro lamb nitting a wool sweater! They'd even own feral pets! An anthro dog walking a normal dog! I would SO be my bear character in that kind of world! but enough with the psycho rant. There's this teenage boy bear named Beary Berrington who is a huge fan the Country Bears musical group. He feels like he doesn't belong with his adoptive family because he's the only in it one who isn't human. He runs away to find his favorite band and attempts to get the band to reunite again. The movie has a lot of Cameos and nice songs. A fun movie to watch.
~Dr. Dolittle 2~ Okay! This is the one! Not anthro, but the animals DO talk! Excellent comedy about a forest that is in danger of being torn down by a logging company. The animalsof the forest enlist the aid of Dr. Dolittle (Eddie Murphy) to help the save the forest. Now the only way he can save the forest is if he can ensure the existence of an endangered species in that forest. In comes Archie. An endangered Pacific western bear. (Major influence for my character.) Only problem is that Archie was raised in captivity, and has no idea how to adjust to the wild. Dr. Dolittle has to teach him fast and attempt to get him to win over Eva (Lisa kudro) heart so that the species can florish. But Archie is such a dork that Dr. Dolittle has his work cut out for him as it is what with his daughter giving him lip, her boyfriend trying to kiss up on her, his wife getting tiffed for being neglected, and the bad guy trying to ruin the whole plan. This is excellent movie to watch. By the way, once again. This movie was a big influence for my character, since Archie has close similarities to me. Archie is a Pacific Western bear. His ancestors come from the mountains of California. I'm from California! So I'm a Pacific Western Bear! This roleplay is set way in the past, so I guess I could be one of his ancestors! So anyway, yeah, that's about it.

Hey was The Little Polar Bear based on a children's book? Because I know of one about a little bear cub named Lars, although for the life of me I can't remember the book's title. How old is The Polar Bear King? I heard about that Country Bears movie- never saw it though. Doctor Dolittle 2!! Oo I loved that movie. Go Archie! Live long and prosper. -EbonyPatriot

It seems that the movie is based on the book of the same title. The books pretty much have the same title with an added text. Like- The little polar bear and the brave little hare. They're more stories to the adventures of Lars. So you were probably right about seeing a book about this movie.
Apparently, The Polar Bear King was premiered in 1991.
Also remember that movie I first mentioned? I think I finally found it. If it's the right movie, It's called the "The Two Little Bears"~1963. I alway's knew it had an obvious title but I just couldn't get it to show up in any kind of search. Well apparently, the basis of the movie is that two children that can wish themselves into becoming bear cubs. Their power to will themselves into bear cubs causes problems for their father played by Albert who is trying to get promoted as a principle at the school district that he works at.~ (Quoted off of Imdb.com.) This is probably the movie I was talking about because the one I saw was in black & White. I can't remember much of what I saw of it but this one comes close.
